Rudy Stanko

Former Sheridan resident Rudy Stanko Sr., 84, of Gordon, Neb., died in his home, Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, of natural causes. An informal wake is 7 p.m. today at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Gordon. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Viewing will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday in Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan. Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Cicmanec Chamberlain Pier Funeral Home in Gordon is in charge of arrangements there. Mr. Stanko was born June 4, 1918, in Kleenburn, 10 miles north of Sheridan. He was an All-State football tackle for the Sheridan Broncs. He also was an amateur heavyweight boxer while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was heavyweight national Amateur Athletic Union titleholder in 1944 and had more than 100 amateur fights without a loss. He married Elizabeth "Chicky" Stanko in 1946. He founded the Rocky Mountain Packing Co. in Casper in 1952. He founded Nebraska Beef Packers in Gordon in 1971. In the 1990s, he became involved in alfalfa farming. Mr. Stanko was an avid fly fisherman, hunter and fan of professional fights on television. He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in Casper, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion in Gordon. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Survivors include his wife of Gordon; two sons, Rudy Jr. of Gordon and Robert of Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Helen Burtus of Sheridan; a brother, Henry of Casper; and six grandchildren.

Nellie Kaufmann

Nellie R. Kaufmann, 91, of Sheridan died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, in Sheridan Manor. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Keys officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Champion Ferries Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Wade Oothoudt

Wade Michael Oothoudt, 28, of Sheridan died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in the Big Horn Mountains near Big Horn of natural causes. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Stevenson Funeral Home in Gillette with Pastor Marty Crump officiating. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday. The family has requested that friends sign Mr. Oothoudt’s casket. Mr. Oothoudt was born Aug. 17, 1974, in Anoka, Minn., to Randy Lee Oothoudt Sr. and Beverly Lou Sharp. He was raised and educated in Gillette and was a 1992 graduate of Campbell County High School. He worked for Flying J, X.L.T. Oilfield Services, Peak Production and, for the past five years, Fidelity Exploration. He moved to Sheridan in 1999. He loved to hunt and fish, play sports and watch sports on television. He was a Dallas Cowboys and New York Mets fan. He was preceded in death by his father in 1976 and by his grandfather Clarence Sharp. Survivors include his wife, Nicole, and son Damon, both of Sheridan; parents Beverly and Roy Shackelford and Kerry and Carla Hutton, all of Gillette; four brothers, Randy Oothoudt of Minnesota and Charlie Hutton, Jesse Hutton and Josey Hutton, all of Gillette; and grandparents Al and Addie Oothoudt of Wadena, Minn., Betty Sharp of New York Mills, Minn., and Betty and Robert Hutton of Gillette. Alvin Eastvold

Alvin K. Eastvold, 88, of Sheridan died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in the home of his daughter and son-in-law. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today in Baker Funeral Home in Mayville, N.D. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Mayville Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Mayville Cemetery. Local arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Eastvold was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Mayville to O.A. and Mabel (Gramstad) Eastvold. He graduated from high school in Mayville and attended college at Mayville State and Iowa State. He returned to Mayville after college and began farming. He married Pearl Strom Dec. 15, 1939, in Mayville Lutheran Church. They were lifelong members of the church. He farmed and ran a poultry operation until 1963, when he retired. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, walking and football. He was preceded in death by a son, Darryl, in 1979; a brother, Orlo; and three sisters, Mae Cella, Faith Shelshok and Helen Carson. Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; a daughter, Mary Otteson of Sheridan; two sisters, Lillian Huseby of Lodi, Wis., and Alice Melby of Battle Lake, Minn.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Theresa Cosner, 77, of Sheridan died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in Westview Health Care Center. Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home. BUFFALO – Richard Bayard Stephenson, 79, of Buffalo died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at his residence after a long illness. Donald Brown

Donald B. Brown, 66, of Sheridan died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Cremation has taken place, and services will be private. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Brown was born Nov. 10, 1935, to Ione Pope. He married Shirley Ferris Oct. 16, 1961. They moved to Sheridan five years ago. He worked for Kerr McGee as a safety technician for 20 years. He loved to hunt and fish and in his later years completed high school and a year of college. Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; two sons, Kelly of Vancouver, Wash., and Kerry of Dolan Springs, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Buster Griffin

Arvada native Buster G. Griffin, 73, of Sundance died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in Rapid City Regional Hospital after a long struggle with diabetes. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. today in Fidler-Roberts Funeral Chapel in Sundance with the Rev. Ed Bollack officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Green Mountain Cemetery in Sundance. Mr. Griffin was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Arvada to Ralph and Margaret (Jones) Griffin. He attended school in Arvada and farmed with his father. He married Louse Mitts in Gillette Sept. 6, 1957. He worked in the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and was later Gillette chief of police until 1965, when he and his family moved to a ranch south of Sundance. The family moved to Sheridan in 1979, then returned to Sundance in 1993. Survivors include his wife of Sundance; a daughter, Debbie Keegan of Yankton, S.D.; his mother, Margaret Bouse of Edgemont, S.D.; a sister, Barbara Wallace of Edgemont; his stepmother, Edith Griffin of Gillette; a stepbrother, Bill Door of Arizona; and three grandsons. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. A memorial has been established in his name.

Leo Nelson

Former Story resident Leo C. Nelson, 90, of Casper died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Chuck Hazlett officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Bustard’s Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements. Mr. Nelson was born Jan. 16, 1912, in Ringsted, Iowa, to Alfred and Nellie Nelson. The family later moved to Underwood, S.D. Mr. Nelson worked for Skarty Oil Co. in Rapid City. He married Mary Audrey Richards Aug. 31, 1936, in Rapid City. The family moved to Newcastle in 1954, where he was involved in managing the Sioux Oil Co. refinery. The refinery was sold in 1969, and Mr. Nelson retired to Story. The couple spent summers in their home on Piney Creek and winters in Sun City, Ariz. The Nelsons moved to Casper in 1991 to be closer to a daughter. Survivors included two daughters, Marcia Daniel of Casper and Karen Davis of Sequim, Wash.; a son, Michael of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Ernest of Lakefield, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and a sister.

She also did postgraduate work in Sheridan. She worked at Clouds Peak TV for 12 years. She married Robert Hoffman in Sheridan in 1963. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the organ, corresponding with family and friends, and traveling. She also enjoyed playing darts and was a member of Wednesday night and Sunday darts teams. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; a brother, Arthur Gordon Bechtold; a sister, Nina Couch; and a great-grandson, Everett Allen Smith Jr. Survivors include a son, Ken Harper of Alden, Pa.; a daughter, Pamela Sampson of Sheridan; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Howard Roadifer

Former Ranchester resident Howard Russell Roadifer, 66, of Greeley, Colo., died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Greeley. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Garden in Greeley, under direction of Allnutt Funeral Service. Visitation will be noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday in Allnutt Funeral Service’s Macy Chapel. Mr. Roadifer was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Sundance to Raymond and Margaret (Bosworth) Roadifer. He grew up and attended school in Sundance. He was a military veteran and worked on various ranches in Wyoming and Montana. He worked for the town of Ranchester for four years. He moved to Greeley in 1983. He married Catherine Mathews there Feb. 14, 1983. He was a member and board member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Survivors include his wife, of Greeley; three stepsons, James and Paul Mathews, both of Greeley, and Stephen Mathews of LaSalle, Colo.; three sisters, Edith Cunningham and Leona Peters, both of Montana, and Cynthia Garner of North Carolina; four brothers, Ernie, Frank and Wayne Roadifer, all of Wyoming, and Raymond Roadifer of California; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Lois R. Moore

Lois R. Moore, 89, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in Sheridan Manor. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born Aug. 21, 1912, in Wasta, S.D., to Timothy and Mayme (McAdarah) Ryan, she grew up and graduated from high school in Douglas. She graduated from Barnes Business College in Denver in 1932, and worked in the county treasurer’s office in Douglas. She married William Moore in Douglas in 1938. They ranched on the Hell In Back Ranch at Ross until the 1940s, when they moved to the 7UP Ranch in the Sheridan area. She kept the books for all the ranches. The couple moved into Sheridan in 1955. In 1963, they moved to Story, and also spent time on their ranch in California until retiring in 1972. After retirement, they lived in Story and Sun City, Ariz. Mrs. Moore enjoyed playing golf, going out to dinner, dancing, traveling, and reading. She belonged to Holy Name Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990 and three sisters, Rhoda Hunter, Betty Herbison and Helen Murphy. Survivors include three sons, Bob Moore of Clearmont, Bill Jr. of Douglas and Roy of Casper; a daughter, Kay Smith of Sheridan; two sisters, Ora Probst of Greybull and Rita Wiese of Anaheim, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Samuel Miller

Sheridan native Samuel Richard "Sam" Miller, 42, of Cheyenne died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, while on a camping and fishing trip near Kaycee. Services will be announced later with arrangements by Adams Funeral Home of Buffalo. Mr. Miller was born May 25, 1960, in Sheridan to C.R. "Sam" and Donna Miller. He grew up in Sheridan and was a 1978 graduate of Sheridan High School. He did seismograph work for Shell Oil throughout the western United States after high school. He married Beth Branney Nov. 25, 1980, in Sheridan. They lived here for a time until the family moved to Michigan, where he worked for Shell Oil in Bay City and Reed City. The family moved in 1991 to Cheyenne, where he was an operator for Frontier Refinery Inc. He was a member of Oil Chemical Atomic Workers Union Local 8-0574. He was an avid fly fisherman. His father died in 1995. Survivors include his wife and three daughters, Amanda, Liza and Morgan, all of Cheyenne; and his mother, a brother, Mike, and three sisters, Cathy Fried, Cheryl Crook and Theresa Rice, all of Sheridan.

Stella Hale

Stella Josephine Hale, 79, of Sheridan died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at her residence. A service of remembrance and luncheon will be noon Thursday in the Knights of Columbus Building, 301 E. Brundage St., with Father Ronald Stolcis officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Hale was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Sheridan to Paul and Susanna (Kavalok) Kobielusz. She attended Sheridan schools and graduated from Heiman Business School in Sheridan. She married Thomas Jefferson Hale Feb. 6, 1942, in Hardin, Mont. She was bookkeeper for Frickey’s Heating and Air-conditioning and Alpine Climate Control until 1994, when she retired. She enjoyed making quilts, watching cooking shows on television, making stews for dogs and cooking for her friends and co-workers. Two stepbrothers preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Wayne of Denver; and a daughter, Marcia Hale of Boise, Idaho. Elinor Crecelius

Elinor Hitchcock Crecelius, 48, of Sheridan died at her residence Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, with her family at her side. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Sheridan with the Rev. Joseph Keys officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Crecelius was born Aug. 21, 1953, in Laramie to David and Charlotte (Neubauer) Hitchcock. She attended Laramie schools and was a 1971 graduate of Laramie High School. She moved to Sheridan from Fort Collins, Colo., in 1971. She received a bachelor of arts degree in 1982 from Portland State University. She married Don Crecelius June 7, 1980, in Sheridan. She loved family, friends and dancing. She also enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, skiing and camping. She was a math teacher at the Wyoming Girls School for 17 years. Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of Sheridan; a daughter, Cora of Sheridan; and a sister, Judy of Tucson, Ariz. Penney Elaine Hart, 51, of Sheridan died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Father Ronald Stolcis officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Hart was born Feb. 12, 1951, in Douglas, Ariz., to John A. and Kathryn (Cravey) Logan. The family moved to Sheridan when she was 4 years old. She attended Sheridan schools and was a 1969 graduate of Sheridan High School. She attended Sheridan College two years. She married Russell Hart June 20, 1970, in Ft. Collins, Colo. She worked at Memorial Hospital before going to work for Drs. Lindeman and Mathews. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Pradere Ebzery Mohatt and Rinaldo. She enjoyed decorating cakes, sewing, making handcrafts and camping in the mountains. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Mark; and a granddaughter, Amber. Survivors include her husband, of Sheridan; two sons, Jeremy of Ft. Riley, Kansas, and Jason of Sheridan; a daughter, Jennifer Hart of Sheridan; two sisters, Diane Logan of Sheridan and Donna LeRoy of Wright; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Sheridan Hospital Foundation, Denver Children’s Hospital or a college scholarship fund for Mrs. Hart’s two grandchildren, Johnathan and Christopher Hart, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, Sheridan.

Lee Jumer

Former Sheridan resident Lee Albert Jumer, 77, of Buffalo died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002. A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles Club in Buffalo. Arrangements are with Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Jumer was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Minneapolis to Leander and Alberta Jumer. He grew up and received his education in Minneapolis and served during World War II. He married his first wife, Lorraine, in Minneapolis, and they made their home there. He married Dorothy Sandland Aug. 4, 1956, in Robbinsdale, Minn., and they made their home in Brooklyn, Minn., where Mr. Jumer worked for his father in a family auto body garage. They moved to Sheridan in 1972. He worked for Jim Karm of Buffalo and later for Sheridan Auto and Truck, until he retired. They moved to Buffalo in 1990. He was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge, Elk’s Lodge, Moose Lodge, the American Legion and VFW. He was a past member of Kiwanis. He was preceded in death by his second wife, in 1995, and by a son, Nate. Survivors include two sons, Dan Jumer of Kadoka, S.D., and Lee Purham of Minneapolis; a daughter, Roxanne Jumer of Buffalo; a brother, Earl, and sister, Charlotte Louisville, both of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Leroy Black

Leroy "Bud" Black, 84, of Sheridan died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at Westview Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Calentine officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mr. Black was born Dec. 14, 1917, to Hugh C. and Julia L. (Baxter) Black. He grew up on the family homestead near the Cheyenne River in Niobrara County. He married Eleanor "Sis" Prell July 1, 1950. They sold the homestead in the early 1960s and moved to Big Horn, then later to Sheridan. Mrs. Black died in 1975. Mr. Black married Elsie Bartholow-Dillin Dec. 3, 1976. He traveled and worked road construction as a mechanic-welder throughout Wyoming and Montana and worked for Big Horn Coal until 1984, when he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling and built a rock garden, complete with waterfall, in his back yard so he could enjoy the bird life it attracted. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, six sisters and a grandson, Jake. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Shelley L. Black of Big Horn and Thomas Dillin of Gillette; six daughters, Sherry Kelley of Douglas, Sharlotte Pulver and Carol Harrison, both of Gillette, Sharon VanWinkle of Casper, Mary Shurtleff of Salt Lake City and Betty Finn of Green River; a sister, Elizabeth Mosted of Black Duck, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Charlene Bard

Charlene E. Bard, 81, of Sheridan died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Kane Funeral Home with Paddy Bard officiating. Mrs. Bard was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Sheridan to Harold and Elsa (Spear) Edwards. She was a 1938 graduate of Sheridan High School. She moved to Seattle during World War II. She married Donald M. Bard Nov. 7, 1955, in Sheridan. They owned and operated Story Stables and ran a dude fishing camp at Beaver Lakes in the Big Horn Mountains for 20 years. She also was employed as a bookkeeper for various businesses. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Lois McCroskey and Virginia Carapella. Survivors include a stepson, Don Bard Jr. of Imlay, Nev.; two sisters, Elise Boston of Snohomish, Wash., and Marilyn Bilyeu of Berthoud, Colo.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Linda B. Gaines

Linda Bessie Gaines, 33, Logan, Kan., died Saturday, July 27, 2002, in a farm accident south of Sheridan. Services and burial were Aug. 2 in Logan with local arrangements by Kane Funeral Home. Born Aug. 5, 1968, in Norton, Kan., to John H. and Dora Bessie Ebner, she was 7 years old when her mother died and 17 when her father died. She began going on harvests at age 15 and had also lived in Glade, Kan. She married Marvin Gaines on Nov. 23, 1987, in Logan. They were partners in Gaines Custom Harvesting and lived in Logan all their married lives. They were confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Mrs. Gaines graduated from Phillipsburg (Kan.) High School in 1988. She loved her family, cooking and cake-decorating. She was known as a happy, outgoing person who would go out of her way to help anyone. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Brittany Elaine, Marcy Lynn and Bessie Maria, all of the family home; five brothers, John and Arthur Ebner of Logan, Edward Ebner of Sabetha, Kan., Delbert Ebner of Russell, Kan., and Alvin Ebner of Norton; four sisters, Rosemary Shanks of Idalia, Colo., Alice Rohr of Victoria, Kan., Ruth Chambers of Edmund, Kan., and Betsy Horn of Boise, Idaho; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Martha ‘Alice’ McConnaughey

Martha "Alice" McConnaughey, 93, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Sheridan Manor. A memorial service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist church with the Rev. Joseph Keyes officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Miss McConnaughey was born Jan. 21, 1909, in Highland County, Ohio, to John W. and Elva (Willett) McConnaughey. She moved to Sheridan in 1916 and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1927. She went to work for F.W. Woolworth store while in high school and worked there until she retired in 1974. During the war years, she was an assistant manager of Woolworth store in Casper and a manager for the Woolworth store in Miles City, Mont. She later traveled to the Woolworth stores that were opening and set up their offices. After retirement, she traveled, and then went to work at Bi-Rite in Sheridan for several years. She always kept track of her many friends and relatives, and made jelly and other items for them. She also made quilts from pieces her mother had put together for all of her family. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sheridan. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one sister, Nellie Kaufmann, and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard Leroy Scrutchfield

Richard LeRoy "Dick" Scrutchfield, 60, of Sheridan died at his home Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002. A memorial service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Cindy Shipley officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Mr. Scrutchfield was born Dec. 4, 1941, in Sheridan to Leroy L. and Dora Dean (Burns) Scrutchfield. He grew up in Sheridan and attended Sheridan schools. He married Susan Bayie in August 1966. They had two daughters. He married his second wife, Bonnie Higgins, in 1972 in Grand Junction, Colo. They had one daughter. Mr. Scrutchfield worked as a truck driver throughout his life. He was employed by Reeves Concrete, hauled logs for the Wyoming Sawmills of Sheridan and worked for other trucking companies in the Sheridan area. In 1972, he started his own trucking business, D&L Trucking. For the past several years, he worked at Craig Scheckla Trucking. Mr. Scrutchfield enjoyed buying antique pickups, trucks and equipment. He had a passion for restoring older vehicles. He is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Miller of Cheyenne, Shannon Adams of Ferryville, Wis., and Tonya Scrutchfield of Denver; a brother, David, of Sheridan; a stepbrother, Doran Higgins of Ekalaka, Mont..; a stepsister, Sandra Music, Sheridan; his stepmother, Doris Scrutchfield of Sheridan; and two grandchildren.

Alice Phillips

Alice Phillips, 86, of Sheridan died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in Westview Health Care Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Doolin officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Monarch to Joseph and Minnie Maude (Rhine) Littler. The family moved to Sheridan, and Mrs. Phillips attended Sheridan schools. She was a 1934 graduate of Sheridan High School. She married David Phillips in Hardin, Mont., in 1939. They made their home in Sheridan, and she was a custodian for the Sheridan school system from 1962-72. She enjoyed sewing and fishing, and loved the mountains. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan. She was preceded in death by two brothers, a stepbrother and a stepsister. Survivors include her husband, of Sheridan; two sons, Don and Dave, both of Sheridan; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Camp Bethal, P.O. Virginia Barrett

Virginia Grace Barrett, 95, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in Platte County Memorial Nursing Home in Wheatland. She was mother of Bette Adams of Sheridan. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Wheatland Cemetery with the Rev. Les Ludlam of the United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are with Platte Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Barrett was born March 26, 1907, in Christiansburg, Va., to Percy J. and Lucy Lee (Walton) Booth. Her father died in 1918, and the family moved to Wyoming in 1920. She attended school in Wheatland. The family later moved to Greeley, Colo. She married Harry H. Eaton in 1926, and they moved to Wheatland. He died in 1932. She married Hubert Barrett April 22, 1946, and they farmed and ranched until his death in 1981. She moved into the Platte County Memorial Nursing Home in 1995. She was a member of United Methodist Church. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Koreen Jones. In addition to her daughter, survivors include a sister, Mildred Holben of Cheyenne; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Marcia McNutt

Marcia L. McNutt, 62, of Indianapolis and Dayton died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at her residence in Dayton. Cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial service is planned in Indianapolis at a later date. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mrs. McNutt was born March 23, 1940, in Boston to Gustav and Beatrice (Lee) Breitzke. She married James McNutt Sr. Sept. 26, 1981, in Sandwich, Mass. Survivors include her husband, of Indianapolis; a son, Keith Spence of Xian, China; two daughters, Debora Banton of Rustburg, Va., and Lorelei Spence of Dallas; and five grandchildren.
