Carma Sue Salveson

Former Story resident Carma Sue Salveson, 63, of Melbourne, Fla., died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Harborville Medical Center in Seattle. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating. Mrs. Salveson was born July 20, 1940, in Joy, Texas, to Audie and Jessie Mae (Lahorn) Holland. She graduated from high school in Ray, N.D., in 1958 and attended one year of business school in Minot, N.D. She married Gerald R. “Jerry” Salveson June 17, 1960, in the Lutheran Church in Ray. Mr. Salveson worked in the oil fields in Sidney, Mont., and Tiogo, N.D. They moved to Gillette, where Mr. Salveson worked for Halliburton for a number of years. The Salvesons started B. & S. Testers in 1979 and later bought the Pines Lodge above Buffalo. They operated both businesses until 1992, when they moved to Florida to be near their family. Mrs. Salveson was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include two sons, Randy of Micco, Fla., and Scott of Melbourne; a daughter, Jeri Lynn Hodges of Susanville, Calif.; a sister, Mary Ann Phillips of Plains, Kan.; a brother, Valder Holland of Davis, Okla.; and five grandchildren.

 

Juana De Leon

Juana De Leon, 41, of Sheridan died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethesda Worship Center. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethesda Worship Center. Burial will be in Cemeterio Las Flores in Guatemala. Mrs. De Leon was born Nov. 1, 1961, in Retalhule, Guatemala, to Celzo and Hilaria (Marroquin) Balcarcel. She grew up in Guatemala. She married Walter De Leon March 19, 1983, in Guatemala. She moved to California in 1991 and to Sheridan in 1995. She was a member of Bethesda Worship Center. She enjoyed cooking, serving people and being a mother. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her mother, of California; her husband, of Sheridan; a son, Benjamin, and two daughters, Auda and Marlen, all of Sheridan; four brothers, Guillermo, Alfonzo, Marcotuilio and Sergio, all of Guatemala; and five sisters, Augustina De Vasquez, Alejandra De Paiz, Graciela De Illescas, Lidia De Pineda and Margarita De Vasquez, all of Guatemala. David John Knigge

David John Knigge, 16, of Gillette died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, as a result of a vehicle accident. He was grandson of Kay Knigge of Sheridan.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Gillette with Pastor Sonja Bruckloker officiating. Pens will be available so friends and family members may sign the casket. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette. Mr. Knigge was born Jan. 9, 1987, in Gillette to Christian “Dean” Knigge and Toni Lynn Ojala. He worked for Connely Trees and owned and operated Davey J's Skateboard Shack. He enjoyed skateboarding, wakeboarding, snowmobiling, playing guitar and being with his friends. Survivors, all of Gillette, include his mother and stepfather, Dave Jackson; his father; two sisters, Courtney Keller and Christian Jackson; and four additional grandparents, Roger and Karen Malak and Buzz and Mary Knigge. Mary E. Adami, 84, of Sheridan died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, in the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Adami was born Nov. 18, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Fred and Mary (Ramsey) Welter. The family came to Sheridan when she was a child. She grew up and graduated from high school in Sheridan, then worked as a bookkeeper in California and Denver before moving to Chicago, where she worked in a military factory. She married Malden McGill Sr. about 1950, and they lived in many places with the military. She returned to Sheridan in 1966 working for the U.S. Forest Service. She later owned and managed Big C Service and Supply in Casper, where she was honored as Wyoming Business Woman of the Year. She married Melvin Adami Oct. 5, 1979, in Story. She retired in 1982. The couple moved to Rapid City in 1987 and returned to Sheridan in 1999. Mrs. Adami attended First Christian Church and enjoyed sewing, cooking, travel and dancing. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Lanting and Ruth Baker, and a half brother, Gerald Lyons. Survivors include her husband, of Sheridan; a son, Mal McGill of Sheridan; a stepson, Brad Adami of Rapid City; a stepdaughter, Lori Walters of Fargo, N.D.; a brother, Fred Welter of Story; two sisters, Viva Nelson of Sheridan and Lucille Leonard of Los Altos Hills, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Memorials may benefit the Sheridan Animal Shelter, 84 East Ridge Road, Sheridan, WY 82801, or the Senior Citizens Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.

 

Robin A. Britton

Robin A. Britton, 50, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, in Sheridan Manor. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Nelson officiating. Mrs. Britton was born Nov. 2, 1952, in Laramie to Myron and Bette (Mole) Goddard. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, gardening, landscaping, flowers, art and animals of all kinds. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Steve Goddard. Survivors include three daughters, Crystal E. Britton Reinking of Grand Junction, Colo., Anussa D. Britton of Phoenix and Atussa D. Britton Dillard of Sheridan; two sisters, Barbara Goddard Ross of Sheridan and Bambi Goddard Propp of Red Lodge, Mont.; two brothers, Bud Goddard of Sheridan and Blaine Goddard of Cheyenne; and five grandchildren.

Juana De Jesus De Leon, 41, of Sheridan died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County of injuries from an automobile-pedestrian accident. Leo C. Schmaus

DAYTON — Leo C. Schmaus, 64, of Dayton died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, in a vehicle accident near Lodge Grass, Mont. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan. Mr. Schmaus was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Miles City, Mont., to Carl and Helen Schmaus. He grew up on a ranch in the Lame Deer/Colstrip, Mont., area. He married Marcyes Dean March 19, 1966, in Forsyth, Mont. They moved to Dayton in 1967. Mr. Schmaus raised registered Black Angus cattle and received numerous honors from the Black Angus breed association. He also enjoyed raising horses and spending time on horseback among his cows. Mr. Schmaus was committed to the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; two sons, Jason of Dayton and Leo Jr. of Hardin, Mont.; two daughters, Marta Ostler and Gretchen Schmaus, both of Sheridan; a brother, John Bailey, and sister, Sharon Richards, both of Colstrip; and three grandchildren. Memorials may benefit local AA programs in care of Box 18, Ranchester, WY 82839 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Robin A. Britton, 50, of Sheridan died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Nelson officiating.

 

John Burgess

John Burgess, 75, of Sheridan died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, in the Sheridan VA Medical Center. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kane Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mr. Burgess was born March 28, 1928, in Hardin, Mont., to George and Irene (Tulp) Burgess. He was a lifelong resident of the Sheridan area except for two years of military service. He went to work for Mid Continent Oil Co. after completing military service, later purchasing the oil company. He operated it for around 35 years. He married Gwendolyn Timm June 14, 1984. He served on the school board, Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce and the Sheridan-WYO Rodeo board and was a past president of the Sheridan Rotary Club. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge 520 and Eagles Lodge 186 and a member of Master Mason Lodge 8, the Scottish Rite Lodge, Kalif Temple, Moose Lodge 674 and the American Legion. He enjoyed the mountains, animals, snow machining, hunting, fishing and tinkering with old cars. Survivors include his mother, of Casper; his wife, of Big Horn; two sons, Jerry and Dan, both of Sheridan; two daughters, Joyce Garris of Mountain View and Diane Cornthwaite of Kaycee; a stepson, William Russell; two sisters, Betty Shaffer and Georgia Lee Bitters, both of Sheridan; and eight grandchildren. Patrick O'Connor

Patrick L. O'Connor, 72, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, while on vacation in Costa Rica. He was father of Meghan O'Connor of Sheridan. Visitation is 4 p.m. today at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, followed by Scripture service at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Cathedral. Mr. O'Connor was born in Foley, Minn., and grew up in St. Paul, Minn. He graduated from St. Thomas Academy and the University of Notre Dame. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Sandra McCue April 14, 1956, in St. Paul. He was active in ranching and South Dakota politics. Survivors include his mother, Genevieve O'Connor of Omaha, Neb.; two other daughters, Molly of Billings and Kate of Omaha; three sons, Tim of St. Cloud, Minn., and Michael and Sean, both of Portland, Maine; and seven grandchildren. Lynn Oliver Howes, 51, of Sheridan died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Visitation will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Raymond Clark officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the services. Ms. Howes was born Sept. 17, 1951, in Buffalo to Bob and Cynthia (Brittian-Quale) Freese. She was adopted by A.J. and Madge Oliver at 5 years of age. She grew up in Sheridan with her sister, Pam, and brother, Drew, and attended Sheridan schools. She started her family in Sheridan, then moved to Utah and Arizona before returning to Sheridan. She was a self-employed horse caretaker. She was associated with the Big Horn Women's Society, the Occidental Hotel and the Jim Gatchell Museum in Buffalo. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Survivors include two sons, Israel James Howes of Sacramento, Calif., and Joshua Reed Howes of Phoenix; two daughters, Carrie Marie Oliver of Sacramento and Mindy “Melinda” Newbury of Sheridan; a brother, Drew Oliver of Mount Vernon, Wash.; one sister, Carlina; and one grandson. John G. Pehringer, 38, of Buffalo died suddenly Thursday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2003, at his home. Cindy Carnline

Cindy Lynn Carnline, 41, Sheridan, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Hardin, Mont., of injuries suffered in a traffic accident near there. Born Aug. 10, 1962, in Hardin, she graduated in 1981 from high school in Rosebud, Mont. She joined the Army before graduation and served until 1981. She worked at Wal-Mart, Sheridan Livestock, and Bighorn Security, among other jobs. She was soul mate of Sherry Mason of Sheridan. Survivors include her parents, Chuck and Leona Carnline of Casper; a daughter, Angie Huckins of Casper; an adopted daughter, Heather Anderson of Sheridan; four sisters, Sandy and Tina Carnline, both of Billings, Rhashell Carnline of Casper, and Kristy Mendenhall of Miles City, Mont.; a brother, Russell Carnline of Billings; a grandfather, Jim Patrick of Miles City; five nephews; three nieces; and many extended family members. Services were Friday at Kane Funeral Home, as announced in Tuesday's Sheridan Press.

Edward McGough

Edward Marcus McGough, 85, of Sheridan died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Sheridan. No services have been scheduled. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home.Mr. McGough was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Watertown, Conn., to James and Mary (Ryan) McGough. The family immigrated from Ireland in the late 1800s. Mr. McGough left home as a teenager to attend the Seamen's Institute in New York, then sailed on a freighter in the European trade.He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, flying in ship-based aircraft in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He spent a year and a half on a jungle island. He attended agriculture college in California after the war. He married Hilda F. Wolfe. He worked on cattle ranches in California, Colorado and Wyoming. He and his wife spent 12 years working out of a cow camp in a mountain roadless area. He was author of five published books.

Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; two sons, Timothy and David, both of Montana; a daughter, Kathleen, of Aurora, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Children's Home in Torrington in care of Karen Green, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

 

Matthew Love

Former Sheridan resident Matthew Lane Love Jr., 27, of San Diego, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, of injuries suffered in a car accident there. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sheridan. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette.

Mr. Love was born May 5, 1976, in Gillette to Matthew L. Love Sr. and Patricia Billings Love. He graduated from Campbell County High School in 1994 and attended the Music Tech Conservatory in Minneapolis. He was a musician, painter and artist and performed in the music groups Sovereign and Common Ground. He had recently moved from Sheridan to California to pursue a career in music. He worked for C&B Paint Co. in Sheridan.

He married Kari Jacobsen June 21, 2003, in Evergreen, Colo. He was preceded in death by a sister; his paternal grandfather, Marlin Love; and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Rauscher. Survivors include his wife; his parents; a daughter, Kaycee Nicole Detmers-Love of Grand Junction, Colo.; his paternal grandmother, Betty Love of Dayton; his maternal grandfather, Gil Rauscher of Gillette; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorials may be made to a trust fund for Mr. Love's daughter in care of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 1 S. Tschirgi St., Sheridan, WY 82801.

Navy veteran Richard Dean Smith, 62, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Services are 2:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at Sheridan VA Chapel. A graduate of Billings Senior High School and Billings Automotive College, Mr. Smith worked at Yellowstone Boys Ranch among other jobs. He was known for his generosity and love of family and country. Survivors include his parents, Clem and Alberta Smith, of Billings; four brothers, Terry of Alder, Mont., and Mike, Patrick, and Gregory, all of Billings; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts.

Kenneth Yellowtail Sr.

Kenneth Yellowtail Sr., 78, of Wyola, Mont., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, in the Crow-Northern Cheyenne IHS Hospital. He was father of Irene Chasing Hawk and brother of Caroline Houston, both of Sheridan. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Lodge Grass (Mont.) First Crow Indian Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will be in Lodge Grass Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin, Mont., is handling arrangements. Mr. Yellowtail, whose native name was Ahbiba'iikash (Sees With His Ears), was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Lodge Grass to Carson and Irene Not Afraid Yellowtail. He grew up and received his early education in Wyola and was a 1943 graduate of Lodge Grass High School. During his younger years he was known as a good ice skater and was nicknamed “Champ.” He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Central Europe during World War II. He received his honorable discharge in 1946. He returned to the Wyola area and started a ranching operation in the Little Horn River valley. Mr. Yellowtail married Christina Lujan Dec. 2, 1958, in Miles City, Mont. The couple made their home on the family ranch. He was a member of the Wyola Baptist Church, Greasy Mouth Clan and a child of the Whistling Water Clan. He enjoyed photography and watching rodeos. He often relayed Indian folklore stories to his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Yellowtail and Eva Bird Hat, two brothers, Rudolph and William Yellowtail Sr., and a grandson. Cynthia “Cindi” Bomar, 51, of Sheridan died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, in the Big Horn Mountains. A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ronald Nelson officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Bomar was born Dec. 17, 1951, in Tacoma, Wash., to Richard and Avis (Shaw) Clingenpeel. She was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 25 years in positions from staff nurse to director of nursing in a long-term care facility to an emergency service flight nurse. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and gardening and cooking. She was a seamstress and quilter. Survivors include her companion, Larry Andre of Sheridan; a son, Neil W. Cossey of Seminole, Okla.; three sisters, Cathryn Barclay of Seattle, Sara Stokesbury of Oklahoma City and Mary Gunn of West Allis, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

Sheridan native and former Buffalo resident Mary Victory Smith, 62, of Loveland, Colo., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at her residence. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Church of the Good Shepherd in Loveland with the Rev. Kent Hummel officiating and at 10 a.m. Thursday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. Tom Sauer officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home chapel from 1-10 p.m. Wednesday and from 8-9:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery, Buffalo. Mrs. Smith was born March 8, 1941, in Sheridan to Walter and Emily Pilch Baker. She attended Sheridan schools and graduated from Sheridan High School. She attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Casper and received certification as a registered nurse. She married Bruce Smith Dec. 9, 1965, in Casper, and they resided in Buffalo where she worked for the Johnson County Health Care Center. They moved to Loveland in 1988, and she worked for the McKee Medical Center until 2002, when she retired. She was an intensive care nurse for 40 years. She belonged to the Wesleyan Church in Buffalo, the Church of the Good Shepherd in Loveland and the Wyoming and Colorado nurse's associations. She enjoyed bird watching, spending time with family and friends, gardening and traveling through the Mountain West. Survivors include her husband; a son, Zane of Cheyenne; a daughter, Connie Carter of Loveland; three brothers, Sam, Ray and George Baker, all of Sheridan; two sisters, Andra Evenson of Las Cruces, N.M., and Julie Catellier of Casper; and one grandson.

BIG HORN — Mildred C. Neumayer, 81, of Big Horn died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at her residence. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today in Columbia Memorial Funeral Chapel in Pasco, Wash. Burial will be in Columbia Memorial Gardens. Local arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Neumayer was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Almont, Mich., to Joseph and Clara (Forton) Drinkhorn. She grew up in Armada, Mich., and attended Armada Center Country School and Almont High School. She married Nick Morris Dec. 31, 1942. She was a homemaker who donated quilts to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and made baby quilts for newborns in the Lewistown, Mont., and Sheridan hospitals. She also enjoyed dancing and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and four grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Nick Neumayer of Big Horn, Wayne “Butch” Neumayer of Lewistown and Francis Neumayer of California; three daughters, Wilma Johnson of Lewistown, Marlene Lilly of Big Horn and Elaine Keister of Pasco; a brother, Joe Drinkhorn of Armada; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas Verley

Thomas Verley, 61, of Sheridan died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Kane Funeral home is handling arrangements. Mr. Verley was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Wyoming to Estell and Frieda Verley. After his school years he enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving until 1963. He was a lifelong resident of Sheridan. He enjoyed doing paint-by-numbers and loved country music and horses. He also enjoyed talking to truckers on the CB, visiting with friends, and playing guitar, piano and organ. CASPER — Funeral services for former Sheridan resident Bob Lepper, 92, of Casper are Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Buffalo with the Rev. George Greer officiating. Mr. Lepper died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003. Visitation is from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo on Sunday, 1 p.m. until 10 p.m., and Monday, 8 to 9 a.m. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery. Robert Leo Lepper was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Floris, Iowa, to Robert E. and Julia (Deskin) Lepper. His mother died when he was 4 years old, and his father then married Laura Souders. Mr. Lepper grew up in Fairfield, Iowa, where he graduated from Fairfield High School in 1928. He attended Iowa State College in Ames and later went to work for Swift Packing Co. in Rapid City. He owned and operated a restaurant in Rapid City, and in 1943 he moved to Buffalo, where he owned and operated Pines Lodge. He moved to Sheridan in 1950 and managed the Sheridan Inn dining room for several years. He then owned several restaurants, including the 990 Cafe in Santa Rosa, Calif., Koffee Kup in Casper and Blue Jay Chick Inn in Sheridan. Mr. Lepper also worked at Gibsons, Ruckman's Men's Wear, the New York Store in Buffalo and Cutlery World and Coast-to-Coast in Casper. He married Eva Phillips in Carmel, Calif., Dec. 11, 1962. They lived in various parts of the Western United States, and in 1989 they retired to Casper. Mr. Lepper was a 32nd-degree Mason, a lifetime member of Kalif Shrine in Sheridan, and a member of the Elks and the Episcopal Church. He was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife; four daughters Judy Schreibeis of Sheridan, Mary Lynne Lamberts of Pacifica, Calif., Barbara Fraley of Buffalo, and Kathy Way of San Jose, Calif.; a son, Bobby Lepper of Wolf Point, Mont.; a stepson, Larry Linn of Casper; a stepdaughter, Beverly Loftin of Casper; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Rains. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Shriners Children's Hospital in care of Adams Funeral Home.

Dorothy Brown, 91, of Sheridan died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, in Sheridan Manor. Viewing will be 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor William Heine officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born Aug. 11, 1911, in Aurora, Ill., to Albert and Minnie (Beckman) Albreicht. The family moved to Sheridan in 1915. Mrs. Brown lived and worked at the Wagner School with schoolteacher Amelia Wagner, who taught her homemaking skills. As a girl, Mrs. Brown worked for various families in Sheridan. She also worked as a maid, baby sitter and cabin girl at the Bones Brothers Dude Ranch in Birney, Mont. She later worked at the Western Coffee Shop in Sheridan. She married Orville Lloyd Brown May 11, 1940, in Sheridan. They raised their family on the Meade Creek and Bar 13 ranches. Mrs. Brown cooked, gardened and canned for her family and the ranch hands. The Browns also lived and worked at the Gallatin Dairy Ranch, Beckton and Soldier Creek and worked for the PK and Rice Wrench ranches. Mrs. Brown was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school and Bible school there. She helped clean the church, supplied it with fresh flowers from her garden and cleaned house and baby-sat for many families in the community. She enjoyed spending time with, and singing to, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lived close to her. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Kenneth and Lawrence "Larry"; three sisters, Ruth Leis, Alma Falvo and Gertrude Fraser; a brother, Harold Albreicht; and two granddaughters. Survivors include a son, Ron Albreicht of Wynnewood, Okla.; two daughters, Barbara Arbogast and Sharon Foster, both of Sheridan; two sisters, Emma Fry of Sheridan and Esther Benton of Buffalo; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Doris J. Jarchow, 77, of Sheridan died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, in Westview Health Care Center. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Jarchow was born April 26, 1926, in South Dakota to George and Thelma (Jarrett) Severtson. She married Ronald Jarchow Dec. 27, 1958. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Severtson. Survivors include her husband, of Sheridan; two sons, Kurt of Virginia Beach, Va., and Eric of Minneapolis; three sisters, Malene O'Brien of Vienna, Va., Norma Dove of Round Hill, Va., and Beth Thompson of Mathews, Va.; two brothers, Ken Severtson of Wylie, Texas, and Rock Severtson of Plano, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Bucky King Bormann

Bucky King Bormann, 73, of Sheridan died this morning, Aug. 6, 2003, at her home. A private burial service is planned with the Rev. David Duprey presiding. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Bormann was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Pittsburgh. She was a graduate of Pennsylvania College for Women and lived in Sheridan more than 35 years. She was a professional textile artist and author and exhibited her work across the United States and in England. She wrote five books in the textile field and three about the Sheridan area: "Big Horn Polo," "The Dude Connection" and "The Empire Builders," a history of the Kendrick Cattle Co. She owned and operated King Brothers Ranch, raising red Angus commercial cattle and Thoroughbred polo horses. Her horses have been sold in the United States, England, France and Italy, and one of her fillies, Rio, was featured in an October 2002 television broadcast of "Nature," ridden by 10-goal polo player Adam Snow. Mrs. Bormann was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilber S. King, and two sons, Coltart M. King and Wilber S. King Jr. Survivors include her husband, Donald W. Bormann; and a son, John A. King. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or to the Big Horn Equestrian Center.

Genevieve Timm Chesler

Sheridan native Genevieve Timm Chesler, 79, of Alameda, Calif., died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at her residence after a yearlong illness. She was cremated, and services will be at a later date in Alameda. Mrs. Chesler was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Sheridan to Lewis Timm and Kathryn Schneider Timm. She attended schools in Sheridan and graduated from high school in 1942. She married Edward W. Chesler April 21, 1944. He was in the Navy. Mrs. Chesler earned an associate's degree from Alameda College and played the organ at various churches in Alameda. She was a volunteer for Head Start as a teacher's aide and introduced children to ballet with books, activities and tickets each Christmas to the "Nutcracker." She was preceded in death by a brother, William. Survivors include her husband, of Alameda; a son, Robert; a sister, Betty Timm Kulish; a brother, Henry Timm; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and -nephews.

Edwin Schmierer, 81, of Sheridan died Thursday, July 31, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Schmierer will be 10 a.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alan Boyles officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mr. Schmierer was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Tappen, N.D., to Christian and Cristina (Orth) Schmierer. He grew up in North Dakota and joined the Army, serving from 1943-46 in Ogden, Utah. He married Lena Lachenmaier April 9, 1947, in Hardin, Mont. He worked at the Sheridan Flouring Mill for 23 years, worked for several years at ther Jersey Creamery then worked at Highland Park School. He retired in 1986. He completed his GED high school equivalence in 1974. He had to quit high school during the Depression to help on the family farm. He enjoyed gardening, puzzles, concerts in the park and spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sheridan. He was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters. Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; a son, Rick of Sheridan; two brothers, Dave of Lodi, Calif., and Gottlieb of Lemmon, S.D.; and two sisters, Pauline Schmierer of Lodi and Amelia Wagenman of Spokane, Wash. Helen I. Ellis, 88, of Sheridan died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Private family graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Jehovah Witness Church officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Ellis was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Milan, Mo., to John Samuel and Sue M. (Daze) Owens. She grew up and attended schools in Laurel, Mont., and Sheridan. She graduated from high school at Laramie Prep and attended the University of Wyoming. She married Raymond Ellis Jan. 14, 1935, in Custer, S.D. They lived in Upton until 1943 when they moved to Sheridan. She operated Louie's Hamburger Stand when Louie was away. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, one sister and a grandson. Survivors include two daughters, Helen Rae Williams of Cheyenne and Frances Lee Deutsch of Sheridan; a brother, Leland Owings of Sheridan; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
