Marc Phillip Coffeen

A celebration of life for Marc Phillip Coffeen, 60, of Sheridan will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Church, 4351 Big Horn Ave., with the Rev. Tony Forman officiating, assisted by Dave Wagner. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Coffeen died Aug. 29, 2007, at his residence. He was born Sept. 29, 1946, in Sedan, France, to Herbert and Suzanne (Consigny) Coffeen, a descendant of Henry Asa Coffeen, for whom Coffeen Avenue in Sheridan, Coffeen Street in Ranchester, and Coffeen Park in the Big Horn Mountains are named. The family moved to Sheridan when he was an infant, and he attended Sheridan Schools, including Coffeen Elementary. He was a 1964 graduate of Sheridan High School. He started to attend Sheridan College but was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam in 1968. He returned to Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan College in 1969 when an Associate of Arts degree. He married Patricia Genereaux on Aug. 16, 1969, in Sheridan. He was a carpenter before going to work for Decker Coal as a coal miner in 1977. He retired in 1995. He was a member of Cornerstone Church and the Big Horn Historical Society. He was a U.S. and Western history buff and an avid outdoorsman, hunter and photographer. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Christopher and Nathan, both of Sheridan, and Quinn of Seattle; his mother of Sheridan; a brother, Michael of Sheridan; and two sisters, Patricia Shokrian of Sheridan and Mary Coffeen Carley of Lake City, Fla.

Douglas 'Jim' Palser

Douglas "Jim" Palser, 56, of Sheridan died Aug. 29, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital of natural causes. A reception in celebration of his life will be 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday in the Knights of Columbus hall. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Leona Reardon

Funeral services for Leona Reardon, 73, of Sheridan will 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Reardon died Aug. 27, 2007, in Big Sky Hospice House in Billings after a fall at her residence. She was born May 22, 1934. She worked with children at Head Start as a volunteer with Sheridan's Foster Grandparents program, volunteered with Girl Scouts and Sheridan VA Medical Center, was a member of bowling leagues for many years, and was a member of the Navy Mothers auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; a sister, Phyllis; and a grandson. Survivors include two daughters, Louise Reardon Horsley of Sheridan and Tammy Reardon of Wolf Creek, Mont.; three sons, Patrick, Michael and DG, all of Gillette; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Reardon Memorial Scholarship Fund to be established at UBS Financial Services, 21 E. Works St. in Sheridan, to continue the education of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Mark P. Coffeen

Mark P. Coffeen, 60, of Sheridan died Aug. 29, 2007, at his residence. Arrangements are pending with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

 

Dorothy Hockert

Dorothy Hockert, 86, died Aug. 29, 2007, in Sheridan Manor. Services are pending in Indiana. Local arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home.

Leona Reardon

Leona Reardon, 73, of Sheridan died Aug. 27, 2007, in the Big Sky Hospice House in Billings as the result of a fall at her residence. Viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Memorials may be made to the Reardon Memorial Scholarship Fund to be established at UBS Financial Services, 21 E. Works St., Sheridan, WY 82801. The fund will be used for the continuing education of Mrs. Reardon's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nelda Lea Anderson

Funeral services for Nelda Lea Anderson, 62, of Sheridan will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Mrs. Anderson died Aug. 18, 2007, in Los Angeles of lupus. She was born Dec. 15, 1944, in Glendale, Calif., to Loren and Marthe Drown. She married Les Anderson Sr. on Feb. 8, 1964, in Fontana, Calif. She was diagnosed with lupus in December that year. The couple moved to Sheridan in 1983. Mrs. Anderson was an administrative assistant at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce along with her daughter, Janelle. The family moved back to southern California in 1988, and she was in real estate with her husband until February. She enjoyed travel, shopping and writing children's stories. She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Drown of Sheridan. She and Mr. Anderson returned to Sheridan in March and moved into a home in The Powder Horn in May. The couple returned to Los Angeles on July 1, where she was hospitalized at USC Medical Center & White Memorial Hospital. Survivors include her husband; a son, Les Jr. of Denver; a daughter, Janelle Leslea Martinsen of Sheridan; two brothers, Mike Drown of Sheridan and Anthony Drown of Palm Springs, Calif.; and three granddaughters.

 

Douglas Montgomery

Douglas Montgomery, 61, of Sheridan died Aug. 25, 2007, in Sheridan VA Medical Center. At his request, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home.

Kenneth `Buster' Harlow

Former Sheridan resident Kenneth “Buster” Harlow, 62, of Gillette died Aug. 23, 2007, in Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at Family Life Church with the Rev. Martin Crump officiating. Burial is in Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Arrangements are with Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette. Mr. Harlow was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Gillette to Kenneth “Bunny” and Velma (Pacot) Harlow. He was a 1964 graduate of Campbell County High School. He was a truck driver for Salt Creek Freightways for several years, then attended Muller College of Massage in California and opened Buster's Therapeutic Massage in Gillette. He taught equine massage therapy across the United States — including Sheridan — and in Canada. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially the Big Horn Mountains. Survivors include his mother of Gillette; a daughter, Nancy Dubel of Gillette; two sisters, Bonnie Price of Colorado and Susan Johner of Gillette; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A memorial has been established at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. Fifth Street, Gillette, WY 82716.

 

James Harold `Jim' Henderson

Memorial services for Lt. Col. James Harold “Jim” Henderson, 59, were this morning at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Powell. Burial with full military honors will be in McCammon Cemetery in Knox County, Tenn. Arrangements are with Berry Funeral Home in Knoxville, Tenn. Lt. Col. Henderson died Aug. 20, 2007, when the Civil Air Patrol plane he was piloting crashed in the Bighorn National Forest during a search for a 16-year-old boy. He was born June 18, 1948, in Knoxville and had lived in Cowley for the past 10 years. He was retired from the active and Reserve U.S. Army. He was sworn into active service in 1971 and served in Frankfort, Germany, 3rd Armored Division, as an area officer for Asia in the Persian Gulf War and was a military attachÈ in Nepal in 1994, for which he received the Defense Meritorious Service Metal. He was a self-employed businessman and seven-year veteran of the Civil Air Patrol. He served as a search-and-rescue officer, counterdrug officer, flight release officer, mission check pilot, cadet orientation pilot, transport mission pilot and moral leadership instructor for the Wyoming Wing. He was an Eagle Scout, president of the Officers Christian Fellowship and a former member of First Baptist Church in both Knoxville and Florence, Ala. He graduated from Coffee High School in Florence and attended Kodaikanal School in Kodaikanal, India. He was an honor graduate in the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of North Alabama and received a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California. Survivors include two daughters, Jeannette Marie Henderson of Lansing, Mich., Joanne Renee Henderson of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a son, Joshua McCammon Henderson of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his parents, Dr. Harold “Al” Henderson and Joanna McCammon Henderson of Florence; and a sister, Elizabeth H. Ellyn Katie Driver

Ellyn Katie Driver, 24, of Murray, Ky., died Aug. 23, 2007, on the campus of Murray State University. She was sister of Linda Lindsey, daughter of Susan (Ryun) Lindsey and granddaughter of Joan Ruth Allred, all of Sheridan. Funeral services are 4 p.m. today in Collier Funeral Home Chapel in Benton, Ky. Mrs. Driver was a waitress at the Cracker Barrell in Murray. Other survivors include her husband, Justin, of Farmington, Ky.; her father, Jeff Lindsey of Gilbertsville, Ky.; a son, Louis, and daughter, Alyxia, both of Murray; two brothers, Wesley Lindsey of Rapid City and Nicholas Prince of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Mason of Isendorph Air Force Base, Ala., and Michelle Prince of Seattle; a grandmother, Martha Lindsey of Benton; and a grandfather, Forrest Ryun of Monroe, Wash.

Patricia Ann Larson

Memorial services for Patricia Ann Larson, 52, of Sheridan will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Phillip Wold officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be in Wisconsin. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Larson died Aug. 20, 2007, in a plane crash in the Big Horn Mountains. She was born June 30, 1955, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Rolf and Marjorie (Haenze) Bents. She grew up and graduated from high school in Colorado Springs, Colo. She studied ultrasound technology and worked at Park View Hospital in Pueblo, Colo. She married John Larson in 1980 in Colorado Springs. They moved to Sheridan in 1983. She graduated from nursing school in 1991 in Sheridan as a registered nurse. She worked at Sheridan VA Medical Center and as needed at Sheridan Memorial Hospital, home care and hospice. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the Civil Air Patrol as a captain in the U.S. Air Force, working with children and search and rescue. She was working to obtain her pilot's license. She enjoyed stamping and creating her own greeting cards. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001. Survivors include her father of Pueblo West, Colo. Memorials may be made to Sheridan Dog & Cat Shelter, 84 East Ridge Road in Sheridan, or to First Lutheran Church in Columbus, Wis.

 

Brandon David Morris

Brandon David Morris, 21, of Buffalo died Aug. 23, 2007, in an automobile accident east of Buffalo. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Big Horn Baptist Church with Pastor John Constantine officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Monday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo with graveside services. Donations may be made to the Brandon Morris Memorial, an educational fund to benefit his daughter, Jadence, in care of Adams Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.

BUFFALO — Vivian Euvone Moncrief, 88, of Buffalo died Aug. 20, 2007, in Johnson County Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. Connie Cranston officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel. Robert E. 'Bob' Pelava

Former Sheridan resident Robert E. "Bob" Pelava, 76, of Zimmerman, Minn., died Aug. 14, 2007, at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday in the Church of St. Bernard in St. Paul, Minn. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery under direction of Mueller-Bies Funeral Home. Mr. Pelava was born Jan. 8, 1931, in St. Paul. He worked for Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern railways for 40 years and was chairman of the local Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers in St. Paul and Sheridan. He was general chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers for six years. He retired and moved to Aitkin, Minn., in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his brothers, sisters and an infant grandson. Survivors include his children, Laurien Rahimi and Mary Walk, both of Ranchester, Robin Goodrich of Dayton, Jan Nicodemus of Zimmerman, and Teressa Pierce of St. Paul; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

 

Frederick J. O'Doan

Services will be later for Frederick J. O'Doan, 54, of Sheridan. Mr. O'Doan died Aug. 21, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. O'Doan was born Feb. 8, 1953, in San Jose, Calif., to Dorothy and William O'Doan. He was a graduate of Riverton High School. During high school, he broke several wrestling records and participated in choir and band. He married Linda Honeycutt on Oct. 16, 1976, in Jeffrey City. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Jamie, Andy, Kaycee and Nikki; a son, William; and 10 grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Riverton High School Wrestling Department, 2001 W. James R. Meyer

A memorial service and tribute for Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 James R. Meyer II, 53, of Sheridan was this morning at Big Horn Airways at Sheridan County Airport with Chaplain Peterson officiating. Military rites were by Sheridan American Legion Post 7, with a Blackhawk Helicopter and fixed-wing Flight-For-Life fly-by. Funeral services and burial will be Sept. 1 in Princess Anne, Md. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Meyer died Aug. 20, 2007, in a plane crash in the Big Horn Mountains while flying as co-pilot on a search-and-rescue mission with the Civil Air Patrol. He was born Oct. 21, 1953, in Kansas City, Kan., to John Aurthur and Rachel Anne (Evans) Meyer. He graduated from Morris Hills High School in New Jersey and received his bachelor's degree from Radford (Va.) University in 1977. He was working toward a master's degree at Radford before he joined the U.S. Air Force. He later served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard as an Apache Helicopter maintenance test pilot. He was site manager for DynCorp's Europe/Netherlands project from 1996-2000, then worked for Metro Aviation/North West MedStar in Spokane, Wash., as an emergency medical service pilot from 2000-02. He served in the Middle East with the U.S. Army Reserves/DynCorp as a test pilot/instructor in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2002-04. After returning to the United States, he flew for Wyoming Life Flight in Casper before going to work for Big Horn Airways of Sheridan. He married Terese Powers on Aug. 30, 2003, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and National Guard and an honorary member of the National Cattlemen's Association and Search and Rescue. He enjoyed fishing, camping, canoeing, going on "adventures," and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and one son. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Justin Meyer of Casper and Ryan Kane Campbell of Las Cruces, N.M.; four daughters, Carissa Meyer Irvin of Alexandria, Va., Cynthia Rachel Meyer of Austin, Texas, and Heidi Kristina Meyer and Taea Kristin Campbell, both of Sheridan; his mother of Princess Anne; two sisters, Rachael Ann Alexander and Brenda Rose Chew; and three grandchildren. Roger A. McKenzie

Roger A. McKenzie, 80, of Sheridan died Aug. 23, 2007, in Westview Health Care Center. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Doug Melius officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be in the columbarium of First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. James R. Meyer

Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 James R. Meyer II, 53, of Sheridan died Aug. 20, 2007, in a plane crash in the Big Horn Mountains. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Big Horn Airways at Sheridan County Airport with Chaplain Peterson officiating. Funeral services and burial will be Sept. 1 in Princess Anne, Md. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

 

Roger A. McKenzie

Roger A. McKenzie, 80, of Sheridan died Aug. 23, 2007, in Westview Health Care Center. Arrangements are pending with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

 

Frederick J. O'Doan

Frederick J. O'Doan, 54, of Sheridan died Aug. 21, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Cremation has taken place, and services will be later. Arlene Dollie Spainhower

Funeral services for Arlene Dollie Spainhower, 81, of Sheridan will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Henderson officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Spainhower died Aug. 21, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She was born July 22, 1926, in Minneapolis to Arthur and Violet Paulson. She attended Southwestern Adventist Junior College in Keene, Texas. She taught school for 36 years in California and was a member of the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association. She married Frank Spainhower on July 2, 1995, in Yountville, Calif. Survivors include her husband; children Flora-Leigh Kingren of Joshua, Texas, Frederick Davis of Riverside, Calif., Karen Duenas of San Leandro, Calif., and William S. Davis of Upton; and eight grandchildren.

 

Tristian Edward Trujillo

Graveside services for Tristian Edward Trujillo, infant son of Serena Trujillo of Sheridan, will be 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Sheridan Bellevue Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Forman officiating. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Tristian was stillborn Aug. 20, 2007. Other survivors include his grandparents, Rowena and John Aarstad of Sheridan.

Kenneth Goodman

Visitation for family and friends of Kenneth Goodman, 76, of Sheridan will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. No services are planned. Mr. Goodman died Aug. 19, 2007, in Sheridan Manor. He was born Jan. 28, 1931, in Billings to Adam and Anna (Kukes) Goodman. The family moved to this area when he was 2 years old and farmed at Big Horn and Ucross. He married Jeanne McKinney on Sept. 15, 1951, in Sheridan. He joined the Marines in October 1951 and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of corporal. He returned to Sheridan after his service and farmed on Lower Prairie Dog for eight years. He then worked for Germaine's for 15 years before working at Sheridan VA Medical Center. He retired in 1992 as a pipe fitter. He then worked as ditch rider for the Gerdle Ditch until 2002, when he retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching his grandchildren play sports, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Survivors include three sons, Casey of Sheridan, Karl of Story and Willis of Caledonia, Mich.; a daughter, Tannya of Sheridan; a brother, Robert of Sheridan; a sister, Sadie Robinson of Sheridan; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

 

George Legerski

Funeral services for George Legerski, 88, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home with George Tellez officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Legerski died Aug. 17, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Acme to George Paul and Mary (Kawulok) Legerski. He worked in a Civilian Conservation Corps Camp before enlisting in the Army. He served during World War II from 1942-1945. After he was discharged from the Army, he worked in the Monarch mine and later for Big Horn Coal, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and United Mine Workers Local 2055. He married Mary Roswadovski on June 21, 1941. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, storytelling and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Mike; brothers Paul and John; sisters Anna Krenzelok, Mary Pelesky, Agnes Fletcher, Eva Bury and Rose Buszkiewic; and one grandchild. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stanley and Edward; a daughter, Jane Lindstrom; four brothers, Joe, Ted, Tony and Frank; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

 

Kathleen L. `Katie' White

Kathleen L. “Katie” White, 81, of Sheridan died Aug. 14, 2007, according to her family. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church. She was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Cleveland, Utah, to Lewis and Ida Anderson. She attended schools in Price, Utah, and was a 1946 graduate of nursing school at San Diego County (Calif.) General Hospital. She came to Wyoming as a cadet nurse. She passed state board exams in California, then worked as a registered nurse at Sheridan VA Medical Center for 30 years. She enjoyed working in her yard, growing flowers and being with friends, family and her dogs, Caesar and Cisco. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Anderson. Survivors include a daughter, Deanna White; a son, Doyle White of Sheridan; siblings Shirley of Oregon, Rosalie Thorness and John Anderson, both of Salt Lake City, and Rene of Price; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Herbert Morgan

Sheridan native Herbert Morgan, 72, of Gillette died Aug. 15, 2007, in Campbell County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Cremation and a private family service took place. Burial will be later in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mr. Morgan was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Sheridan to Harold and Myrtle (Guy) Morgan. While attending schools here, he helped on the family ranch and later became a rancher and competed in rodeos as a bareback bronc rider. He married Ila Scott on July 31, 1954. They divorced. He married Audrey Maxine Leech on May 16, 1958. They moved to Gillette in the early 1960s, where they ranched and operated a contract pumping business. She died in 1998. Mr. Morgan enjoyed horses, ranching and being outdoors. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers. Survivors include two sons, Herb and Tim Onkka, both of Sheridan; two stepchildren, Joyce Iroz and Jim Senff, both of Gillette; two brothers, John of Greybull and Dave of Buffalo; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sylvia Louise Ridley

Former Story resident Sylvia Louise Ridley, 88, of Buffalo died Aug. 16, 2007, in Buffalo. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob McHenry officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in the chapel. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services. Mrs. Ridley was born July 27, 1919, to Marshall and Sylvia Jenkins on the family homestead 35 miles south of Buffalo. She grew up in Antelope Basin and attended country school south of Buffalo. She married Jesse Ridley on June 24, 1941, in the Wesleyan Church in Buffalo. They bought a ranch northwest of Buffalo in spring 1951. They moved to Story in 1959 and returned to Buffalo in 1966. Mr. Ridley died in October 2000. Mrs. Ridley enjoyed travel, and made hiking trips to England, Ireland and Israel. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, hiking and fishing with her husband, and reading and baking bread. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Anne, and a brother, Forrest Jenkins. Survivors include six children, Lila Louise Crump of Casper, Marjorie Eileen Gunsolley and Alan Jesse Ridley, both of Buffalo, Jack Marshall Ridley of Missoula, Mont., Bonnie Lynn Ridley Kraft of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Kerry Irvin Ridley of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Robert Jenkins of Columbia Falls, Mont.; five sisters, Polly Oltion of Sheridan, Vida Jenkins of Ventura, Calif., June Taylor of Buffalo, Norma Closson of Casper, and Nora Cellers of Bozeman, Mont.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Harvey F. `Curley' Weaver Jr.

Sheridan native Harvey F. “Curley” Weaver Jr., 81, of Clarkston, Wash., died Aug. 4, 2007, according to his family. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Orland, Calif. Mr. Weaver was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Sheridan to Harvey Sr. and Gladys Weaver. He was primarily raised by an aunt, Peggy Opelt. He attended school in Sheridan and joined the Merchant Marine when he was 16. He served four years, traveling around the world delivering fuel on tankers during World War II. He was a survivor of Pearl Harbor and earned his Master's Certificate as ship captain. Shortly before he was discharged, he married Kathleen Calanborn in Alameda, Calif. They returned to Sheridan, and Mr. Weaver started his own business, Weaver's Logging. In 1962, the family moved to Orland, where Mr. Weaver expanded into trucking and added a salvage yard, Weaver's Trading Post. After ill health forced him to retire, he and Mrs. Weaver moved to Clarkston to be near family. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan; a brother, Ace; and a granddaughter. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dave and Terry, both of Orland; two daughters, Cherri Reed of Lewiston, Idaho, and Pam Moon of Redding, Calif.; a brother, Jack; three half brothers, Dennis, Dusty and Johnny; a half sister, Joy; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Wilbur E. Pool

Funeral services for Wilbur E. Pool, 84, of Sheridan will be 2 p.m. Friday in First Congregational Church-United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Circle Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with graveside services by Sheridan Masonic Lodge No. 8. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Pool died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Sheridan to George H. and Etta (Dawson) Pool. He was a 1941 graduate of Sheridan High School. He married Alta June Ewoldsen on July 2, 1943, at the First Congregational Church in Sheridan. The couple moved to Nashville, Tenn., in 1945, while Mr. Pool attended the Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He graduated in 1946 as valedictorian. He received his Wyoming State Embalmer's License in 1946 and was funeral director-embalmer for Reed Mortuary in Sheridan before going to work for Champion Funeral Home in 1947. The Pools moved to Buffalo in 1950, where they owned and operated the Pool Funeral Home until 1958. They returned to Sheridan, and Mr. Pool worked for Champion Funeral Home until 1988, when he retired. He continued working part-time for the funeral home, which later became Champion Ferries Funeral Home. He was involved with ambulance service for many years and became one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians in Sheridan County. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, the mountains and camping and playing the organ and piano. He was a Senior Center Ambassador, delivered Meals on Wheels six days a week for 14 years and drove the Senior Center Mini-Bus. He played for Sunday school at his church for 18 years. He assisted at the Sheridan County Wellness Council's annual blood draws for 14 years. He played in dance bands in the Sheridan area for many years. He had been a member of the First Congregational Church/U.C.C. in Sheridan since 1943. He was a member of the Sheridanaires, Sheridan International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 19 and Sheridan Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a 50-year member of Sheridan Lodge 8, A.F. & A.M., providing music, and a life member of the Kalif Shrine. He was a member of the Kalif Klowns. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; a daughter, Marilyn Puett of Omaha, Neb.; a son, Tom of Hamilton, Mont.; and six grandchildren. Mary K. Miech

A celebration of the life of Mary K. Miech, 94, of Sheridan will be noon Saturday at the Kalif Shrine Center, 145 W. Loucks St. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Miech died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 1912, on the family ranch near Piney Creek to Mike and Hedwiga (Rucki) Krezelok. She grew up on the ranch and attended the Old Stone School on Piney Creek. She married Joseph Miech on Dec. 17, 1930, in Hardin, Mont. They lived in Ulm for a year before moving to Sheridan. Mrs. Miech was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 1560 Auxiliary, Naomi Chapter 2 of the Order of Eastern Star and the First Congregational Church. She enjoyed raising flowers, fishing, crocheting, knitting, baking, cooking, playing bingo, being in the mountains and outdoors. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Gigstad of Magnolia, Texas; a brother, Joe Krezelok of Greybull; a sister, Margaret Ellenwood of Banner; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Angel L. Showers, 46, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Living God with Janell Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Memorial Cemetery under direction of Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Viewing will be 1-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Showers died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, in the emergency room of Sheridan Memorial Hospital of natural causes. She was born July 26, 1961, in Sheridan to Virgil “Tubby” and Rose (Vine) Badgett. She grew up and attended schools in Sheridan. She married Ed Golson in 1980. They later divorced, and she married Paul Showers in 1987. They also later divorced. She worked as a waitress at the Truck Stop, Bob & Donna Restaurant, Perkins, Main Street Diner and Trail's End Restaurant. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles and reading the Bible. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Golson and David Showers, both of Sheridan; two daughters, Melissa Long of Bellingham, Wash., and Christina Golson of Ranchester; her mother, Rose Parsons of Sheridan; a brother, Kevin Badgett of Sheridan; four sisters, Rosie Sadler, Connie Deutsch, Sheila Badgett and Tammy Badgett, all of Sheridan; and five grandchildren. Edna M. Phillips, 81, Sheridan, died Aug. 4, 2007, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings. No services are scheduled; burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Born May 31, 1926, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Frank and Mary Hendricks, she attended South Dakota schools and married Dewey Phillips. A homemaker, she loved living in the country as a young woman, animals, and collecting stuffed animals. Her husband and a grandson preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Maria Zamora of Roy, Utah; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Roy E. Hoke

Roy E. Hoke, 85, of Sheridan died Aug. 4, 2007, in Sheridan VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be later. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Hoke was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Washo, Mont., to Jess and Alta (Copple) Hoke. The family moved to Belfry, Mont., when he was 9, and he attended schools there. He worked on a ranch south of Belfry until October 1942, when he joined the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in October 1945. He married Lidia Reichel on Jan. 22, 1943, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. After the war, he returned to the Belfry area, where the family lived for 10 years before moving to Billings. Mr. Hoke worked for Great Western Sugar Co. in Billings for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He had resided at Sheridan VAMC for 10 years. He enjoyed his horses, writing poetry and collecting antiques. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of Billings; two sons, Richard and Dennis, both of Billings; four sisters, Thelma Bailey of Salt Lake City, Dora Jackson of Belfry, Alta Yates of Powell and Mickey Thiel of Butte, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Robert S. Wilmesmeier

Memorial services with military honors for Robert S. Wilmesmeier, 86, of Sheridan will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. Burial of cremains will follow in Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Mr. Wilmesmeier died Aug. 2, 2007, in Westview Health Care Center. He was born June 14, 1921, in Sheridan to Robert and Helen Wilmesmeier. He was a 1939 graduate of Sheridan High School. He joined the Wyoming National Guard and was sent to Fort Lewis, Wash., before World War II. He served as an Army corporal for five years during World War II. He married Ruby Smith in 1951. They divorced in 1963. He married Jean Swanson in 1984; they were divorced. He was a flooring contractor before going to work in the engineering department at Sheridan VA Medical Center. He retired in 1986. He was a member of Sheridan Elks Lodge for 54 years, a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served on the church session, and a member of the board of Sheridan Heritage Center for five years. He enjoyed volunteering, and his activities included delivering Meals on Wheels, taking patients to appointments at Sheridan VAMC, performing various tasks at City Hall while Jim Wilson was mayor, giving tours of the Sheridan Inn and Trail End StateHistoric Site, and planting and maintaining flowers at the Sheridan Inn. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Alan Wilmesmeier. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl McIntyre of Blackfoot, Idaho, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Wolfer was born Nov. 11, 1916, in Murchison, Texas, to Naomi Fender. She married Charles “Chuck” Wolfer on May 30, 1955. Mr. King died July 28, 2007, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Douglas to Williams and Blanche King. He enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1943 and served until 1946, when he was honorably discharged. He married Dorothy Clapp on Feb. 10, 1944, in Tucson, Ariz. He was founder of King's Saddlery and enjoyed leather work and making leather-working tools. He was a member of Sheridan Elks Lodge, American Legion and St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and John. Survivors include his wife; two sons, William and Bruce, both of Sheridan; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
