Mary F. Bryant
Mary F. Bryant, 89, of Sheridan died Friday, July 25, 2003, at the residence of Kim and Dorothy Bangerter in Sheridan. Funeral Liturgy will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ronald Stolcis as celebrant. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Bryant was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Pueblo, Colo., to John and Mary (Mezan) Zaletel. She grew up and attended schools in Pueblo. She worked in the Ordinance Depot in Pueblo during World War II. She married Weston W. Bryant Oct. 14, 1950, in Pueblo. They moved to Greybull, then to Sheridan later that year. She enjoyed cooking and baking, fishing and camping with her husband and working in her flower bed. She was a member of the Cheery Chics Homemaker's Club and Holy Name Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and a stepdaughter. Survivors include her daughter, Alice Hepp of Sheridan; three sisters, Rose Jersin, Frances Petros and Dorothy Zele, all of Colorado; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Regina Fauber
Regina Clarie Fauber, 82, of Sheridan died Friday, July 25, 2003, in Westview Health Care Center. Private family funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday in the Sunrise Assembly of God Church in Sheridan with Pastor John Jackson officiating. Burial will be on the family ranch on Lower Prairie Dog Creek. Arrangements are with Adams Funeral Home of Buffalo. Mrs. Fauber was born May 9, 1921, in Oxford, Neb., to Amil and Alice Regalin. She grew up and was educated in Sheridan. She married Clyde Fauber April 13, 1940, in Sheridan. Mr. Fauber worked for the Sheridan VA Hospital, and Mrs. Fauber worked in various restaurants as a waitress. Mr. Fauber died in November 1994. Mrs. Fauber had lived in Westview Health Care Center for three years. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Survivors include two sons, Stan of Sheridan and Donald of Reno, Nev.; three daughters, Dorothy Fauber of Florida, Nancy Shehane of Columbus, Ga., and Florence Martin of Sheridan; two sisters, Lucille Clark and Roberta Crocker, both of Sheridan; a half sister, Phyllis Smith of Sheridan; a half brother, Ronald Regalin of Salt Lake City; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Edna Mae Wilcox
STORY Edna Mae Wilcox, 89, of Story died Friday, July 18, 2003, in Sherman Oaks, Calif. Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be 11 a.m. Aug. 25 at the Story Woman's Club. Arrangements are with the family. Mrs. Wilcox was born Sept. 21, 1913, in Lost Springs to Malcolm and Reta Campbell. She grew up in Midwest and Casper and graduated from Natrona High School. She taught school in the area until moving to Denver and, later, Los Angeles, where she worked for Heiland Research and the Los Angeles school board. She returned in 1976 to Story, where her family helped build her home. She enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting, knitting, watching the birds at her year-round feeders and the wildlife outside her windows and visiting Disneyland. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.O. Wilcox. Survivors include a son, Blake; a daughter, Sue; two brothers, Bud and Dick Campbell, both of Story; two sisters, Dorothy Wing of Story and Carol Hayter of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial/wake for Ed Sittner, 79, Sheridan, will be 3 p.m. Saturday in the home of his niece and nephew, Lesley Ann and Don Bartlett, 639 W. 15th Ave. in Torrington. Mr. Sittner died Feb. 21 at his home.

Harriet V. Brown, 85, of Lodge Grass, Mont., died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Heritage Acres Nursing Home. Funeral services were this morning in Kane Funeral Chapel in Sheridan. Burial was in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Bullis Mortuary of Hardin, Mont. William H. Sept, 80, of Sheridan died Monday, July 28, 2003, in Sheridan Manor. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment of cremains will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Sept was born Dec. 7, 1922, in Neslen, S.D., to John and Helen (Miller) Sept. He worked as a cement finisher in the construction business. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Arnold, Robert, Arthur, Edward and Harry; and five sisters, Tillis Britzman, Doris Sept, Alma Sorenson, Emma Dykes and Leona Lewis. Survivors include two sisters, Helen Gearhart of Buffalo and Bertha Britzman of Riverside, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

William H. Sept, 81, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Sheridan Manor. Arrangements are pending with Kane Funeral Home. Irene Walli Irene Walli, 72, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Sheridan Manor. Cremation has taken place. Private family services will take place at North Branch Cemetery in Cromwell, Minn. Born Jan. 7, 1931, in Automba, Minn., to Edward and Mary (Pikkarainen) Korpi, she married Toivo Walli in Cromwell. Mrs. Walli was a musician who also loved dancing, visiting with people, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of Cromwell; two daughters, Linda I. Johnson, Sheridan, and Heidi L. Hassel, Wright, Minn.; two sisters, Lempi Thompson and Marge Herbst; a brother, Gene Korpi; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. ARVADA Murel Jean Packard, 82, of Arvada died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo. Viewing is until 5 p.m. today at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Martin Rostad officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Packard was born May 11, 1921, in Sheridan to James and Erma (Minster) Enochs. She grew up on the family ranch south of Arvada. She graduated from Sheridan High School and attended business college in Denver. She married Wayne Packard May 29, 1939, at the family ranch. They moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1948, then moved to Cody. They returned to the ranch south of Arvada in 1967. Mrs. Packard taught piano to neighboring children for many years. She loved music and played various instruments including piano and violin. She enjoyed animals, poetry and storytelling. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers. Survivors include a son, Gary of Arvada; a daughter, Wanda Hape of Sheridan; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. William Henry Clark Jr., 55, of Sheridan died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident east of Sheridan. A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Tongue River Canyon. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Clark was born Dec. 21, 1947, in Pomona, Calif., to William Henry Clark Sr. and Catherine Eileen (Nugent) Clark. He grew up in California. He moved to Sheridan in 1998 and worked for Scheckla Trucking as a long-haul driver. He enjoyed the outdoors, horses and his Harley-Davidson. Survivors include his parents, of Pharump, Nev.; a son, William Henry III of Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter, Jennifer Marie Clark of Las Vegas; five sisters, Mary Flud and Sandy Harris, both of Las Vegas, Linda Moll of Polson, Mont., Kathy Schaffer of Apple Valley, Calif., and Peggy Russell of Big Fork, Mont.; and four grandchildren.

Susie Mitchell
Susie Mitchell, 92, of Sheridan died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, in Sheridan Manor. Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Mitchell was born Oct. 1, 1910, in Kooi to George and Mary (Kacet) Soltis. She grew up in Kooi and went to school in Monarch. She worked for the Yentzer Ranch at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains on Big Goose Creek. She married Joe Mitchell in Sheridan. She worked at the sugar factory in Sheridan. The family lived in Monarch and Acme while Mr. Mitchell worked for the Monarch Coal Mine and, later, Big Horn Coal. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed her flowers and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, Alvin of Sheridan and Robert of Gillette; two daughters, Mary Lupton and Donna Ross, both of Washington; a sister, Helen McAdams of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Bonnie Kuzara
Former Sheridan resident Bonnie (Williams) Kuzara, 50, of San Marcos, Calif., died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in San Diego of an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at The New Song Church in Oceanside, Calif. Cremation has occurred, and a celebration of life service in Gillette will be announced later. There will also be a service Aug. 3 in Dubois, after which Mrs. Kuzara's ashes will be spread. Mrs. Kuzara was born Jan. 20, 1953, to Robert E. Buck Williams and Ruby (Ruff) Cox. She grew up in the Rozet and Gillette area and attended Rozet Elementary School, Campbell County High School and the University of Wyoming. She later attended the College of Cosmetology in Sheridan. She married Gregg Kuzara Oct. 21, 1984, in Sheridan. She spent most of her working life in the insurance industry. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Angela, and son, Alex, all of San Marcos; her stepfather, Dean Cox of Dubois; her stepmother, Charlotte Allen of Gillette; two brothers, Bob and Bill Williams, both of Gillette; sisters Connie Williams of Gillette, Kendra Kostreba of Star Valley, Lynn Scott of Aurora, Colo., and Kim Dack of Eagle Point, Ore.; and a grandmother, B. Frances Kathleen (Brantz) Gillis, 81, of Sheridan died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Viewing is 7-9 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will 10 a.m. Thursday in Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor William Heine officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Mrs. Gillis was born July 14, 1922, in Monarch to Andre and Kathryn (Marosok) Brantz. She was a 1940 graduate of Sheridan High School. She married William J. Gillis in 1942. They later divorced. She married Otto Heczko in 1965; they later divorced. Mrs. Gillis worked at the original Pentagon building in Washington, D.C. She later returned to Sheridan and worked 46 years for Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. She bowled many years for Ernest Saddlery. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She belonged to Eagles, Moose and DOES. She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter, and a sister, Victoria. Survivors include a son, Robert of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew. Bernard Bernie Pustek, 63, of Gillette died Sunday, July 20, 2003, in Sheridan VA Medical Center of natural causes. He worked 12 years for Metz Beverage Co. of Sheridan. Vigil service was this morning at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette with the Rev. Peri Moses of St. Matthew's Catholic Church officiating. Flag presentation was by American Legion Post 42. Burial will be at a later date in Gillette-Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Mass of Christian Burial will be 8:15 a.m. Aug. 11 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Griffith, Ind. Mr. Pustek was born June 17, 1940, to Stephen and Mary (Broneck) Pustek in Whiting, Ind. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He moved to Gillette in 1980. Survivors include six brothers, Steven of Griffith, James of Big Bear, Calif., Gerald of Golden, Colo., and William, Donald and David, all of Whiting; four sisters, Crystal Kurek and Joyce Nagy, both of Dyer, Ind., Susan Bissett of Demontt, Ind., and Mary Beth Jezuit of Chicago; and his fiance, Joy Richards of Sheridan. A memorial service for Lucille M. Wilson, 91, Sheridan, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Sheridan with Pastor John Graham officiating. Mrs. Wilson died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Sheridan Manor. Her obituary appeared in the May 9 Sheridan Press. Inurnment of cremains will be in Masonic No. 43 section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Elizabeth O. Liz Horn, 89, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in Sheridan Manor. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Upton with Pastor Randy Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Upton Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are with Worden Funeral Directors. Mrs. Horn was born April 5, 1914, to Dillard and Elsie Lester on a homestead north of Moorcroft. She grew up and attended schools in the area. She married Harold W. Campbell June 6, 1936, in Moorcroft. He died Aug. 27, 1941. She worked alongside her parents on the family's dairy and sheep ranch west of Moorcroft for much of her young adult life. She later attended Black Hills Teachers College and taught first- through eighth-grade classes at the Thorne Divide School near Moorcroft. She married Donald Horn Sept. 22, 1956, in Moorcroft. He died in 1998. She moved to Sheridan. She was a church pianist for 28 years and taught private piano lessons. Her passion was gardening, especially roses. She was an avid seamstress. Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie Brimmer of Moorcroft; a son, Harold Campbell of Sheridan; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Bruce M. Jennings Jr., 88, of Sheridan died Friday, July 18, 2003, at his home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Doug Melius officiating. Burial will be in the columbarium of First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Jennings was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Davilla, Texas, to Bruce M. and Anna (Hine) Jennings Sr. He grew up in Davilla and graduated from Rogers High School. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in East Texas for a time. He was a graduate of Texas Tech in Lubbock, with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He married Berneice Locke Nov. 12, 1946, in Enid, Okla. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years and saw all his sons become Eagle Scouts. He worked for Mobil Oil for 37 years until 1974, when he retired and moved to Sheridan. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Elks Lodge 520, Wyoming Weapons Collectors and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and collecting Charles Newton rifles. He was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce Jennings III and Gordon Jene Jennings; one sister; an infant son; and an infant daughter. Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; a son, Charles of Deweyville, Utah; three daughters, Maribeth Plocek of Casper, Joan Nelson of Honeyville, Utah, and Beverly Sanderlin of New Hampshire; a sister, Ruth Allday of Odessa, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Eugene Eckroth, 81, of Sheridan died Friday, July 18, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Holy Name Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Eckroth was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Mandan, N.D., to George and Beatrice (Kautzman) Eckroth. He attended Jamestown College on a full basketball scholarship. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 1940 and attended Officers Candidate School at Fort Sill, Okla., graduating in September 1942. He participated in the Guadalcanal and Luzon campaigns in the Pacific as an officer in the 8th Field Artillery Battalion, 25th Division, 6th Army. He served in the Army Reserve in Montana and National Guard in Wyoming after the war. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Wyoming National Guard in 1973. He received the Wyoming National Guard Distinguished Service Medal as battalion commander for the 1-49 Field Artillery Battalion. He graduated from Montana State University with a master's degree in agronomy. He married Elizabeth Betty Labrie Sept. 11, 1946. He enjoyed watching sports and politics. He was a life member of the Elks Club and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and the Secular Order of St. Frances. He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter. Survivors include three daughters, Susan Adams of Billings, Colleen Larsen of Casper and Kerry Zolg of Westminister, Calif.; two sons, James of Casper and David of Billings; a brother, Henry Buck, and a sister, Virginia Boehm, both of Mandan; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Elvezio Stephen Will, 80, of Buffalo died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at his residence. He was father of Steve G. Will of Sheridan. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. Tom Saur officiating. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services. Visitation is 1-10 p.m. today and 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Will was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Monte Carasso, Switzerland, to Charley and Louise Will. The family moved to America in 1926, and Mr. Will spent his childhood on the Will Brothers dryland ranch at Nine Mile southeast of Buffalo. He attended rural schools in Johnson County and completed his freshman and sophomore years in Lemoore, Calif. He was a 1940 graduate of Johnson County High School. He was active in FFA. Mr. Will married Dorothy Hepp Sept. 26, 1942, in Billings. They made their home on the Greub Ranch north of Buffalo. They worked on various ranches for several years and leased a ranch and dairy farm at Prairie Dog for many years before taking over the Will Brothers irrigated ranch south of Buffalo in the 1970s. Mr. Will was a member of the National Rifle Association and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; a son, Dave; and a sister, Alma Billingsley. In addition to his son, survivors include a daughter, Linda McKenzie of Buffalo; a sister, Mary Osborn of Buffalo; a brother, Frank of Buffalo; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Woodard was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Effingham, Kan., to Jack Martin and Grace Edna (Bonnel) Woodard. He married Anne Rita (Juroshek) Jan. 10, 1948, in the Episcopal church in Sheridan. Mr. Martin enjoyed hunting, fishing and baking for friends. He loved horses and his two dogs. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Earl. Erma Guyot Kirby, 94, of Sheridan died Sunday, July 13, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Memorial services will be 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church Chapel with the Rev. Mrs. Kirby was born Jan. 25, 1909, in Newcastle to Henry and Rachel (Harte) Guyot. She attended school in Sheridan and in Edgemont, S.D., where she graduated from high school in 1927. She was a graduate of Peru State Teacher's College in Peru, Neb., and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming. She married Kenneth E. Kirby Feb. 7, 1931, in Hardin, Mont. She taught school for 42 years, 12 in Lusk and 30 in Sheridan School District 2. She retired in 1974. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the National Education and Wyoming Education associations, Delta Kappa Gamma, Naomi Chapter 2 Order of the Eastern Star, Sahida Temple Daughters of the Nile, the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Noel and Charles. Survivors include three nephews, Gerald Guyot of Gold Beach, Ore., and Michael and Pat Guyot, both of Everett, Wash.; and a goddaughter, Joyce Carroll of Sheridan. Dana G. Mauch, 85, of Sheridan died Sunday, July 13, 2003, in his residence. Private family services will be later. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Mauch was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Wellesley, Mass., to Gilbert and Louise (Farnsworth) Mauch. He grew up in Waban, Mass., and graduated from Newton High School. He graduated from Babson College with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He later graduated from Wentworth Institute. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at Boston Safe Deposit and Trust and was chief investment officer when he retired. He married Helyne Eisele in Massachusetts in the mid-1970s. They moved to Story in 1976 and later moved into Sheridan. Mr. Mauch was an avid golfer and member of the country club in Massachusetts and of the Sheridan Country Club. He was vice chairman of the board of First National Bank in Sheridan. He enjoyed the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002. Survivors include two sons, Dana Jr. of Cumberland, Mass., and Donald A. of Norwell, Mass.; a daughter, Barbara Ann Hyde of Bar Harbor, Maine; and six grandchildren.
Former Sheridan resident Samuel Lee Funk, 51, of Ekalaka, Mont., died Friday, July 11, 2003, in Sheridan. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Funk was born Dec. 1, 1951, in Plevna, Mont., to Ernest L. and Ada (Best) Funk. He grew up and attended schools in Ekalaka and was a 1970 graduate of Ekalaka High School. He joined the U.S. Army after graduation and served in Vietnam. He returned to the Ekalaka and Baker areas in Montana and worked in construction. He married Nancy Schimming in Baker in 1974. They owned the Old Sand Bar in Ekalaka from 1976 until 1985, when Mr. Funk sold the bar and moved to Las Vegas. He moved to Cody in 1994 and to Sheridan in 1998. He returned to Ekalaka in 2002. He enjoyed reading and sports and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a daughter, Heidi Stebbins of Cody; a brother, Michael Gillie of Oregon; and two grandchildren.
Orville Mearl Wright, 93, of Sheridan died Monday, July 14, 2003, in Sheridan Manor. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bull Creek Cemetery on the South Fork in Cody. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Wright was born Nov. 25, 1909, to William Earl and Bessie (Jinks) Wright on the family farm northwest of Blue Mound, Kan. He attended school in Stanton County, Kan., and later moved to Linn County. He moved to Cody in 1938 and worked on the J Bar 9 Ranch. He moved to Sheridan in 1949 and worked on various ranches, including the T Bar T, Triangle T and Sage, until he retired. He loved horses, ranching and exploring the back country in the Big Horn Mountains. He also enjoyed hunting, rodeo and gardening and was a member of the Elks Club since 1955. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph, Raymond (Slim), Melva, Eldon and Norvin. Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Channel; a son, Jerry; two sisters, Lucille Hutchens of Pilot Mountain, N.C. and Maxine Jernberg of Cody; three grandchildren; and eight nephews.
Sheridan County native Alice Irene (Lorah) Christianson, 87, of Douglas died Monday, July 14, 2003, in the Michael Manor Nursing Home in Douglas. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Adams Funeral Home in Buffalo with Pastor Mike Carlton officiating. Mrs. Christianson was born Jan. 30, 1916, to Margaret and Alva Lorah on the family homestead near Arvada. She grew up on the family ranch. She married Donald Chris Christianson in 1948 in Greeley, Colo. They lived in various communities in Wyoming, including Casper for 35 years. They moved to Douglas in 1997. Mr. Christianson died in 1998. Mrs. Christianson enjoyed her grandchildren, crocheting, country music and watching country dancing on television. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hoblit; nine brothers and sisters; and one grandson. Survivors include two sons, Alva Hoblit of Sheridan and Dale Christianson of Casper; a daughter, Cindy Grinstead of Douglas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. O'Dell Sept. 26, 1936, in Hardin, Mont. He worked with his brothers as a housepainter in Sheridan for most of his life. He enjoyed visiting friends and family and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the Painters and Drywall Finishers Union. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, a sister and two brothers. E. Keith Salisbury, 80, of Sheridan died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, in Westview Health Care Center. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Sneve officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery with Elks Lodge 520 presiding. Mr. Salisbury was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Sheridan to Lloyd and Avon (Pence) Salisbury. He grew up in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan. He returned to Sheridan after the service. He married Doris Rose in 1950. He worked at the Sheridan VA Medical Center until 1974, when he retired. He coached Little League baseball, was a Scout master and was a volunteer fireman in Big Horn for several years. He was an organizing member of the American Federation of Government Employees Union in Sheridan. His wife died in 1974. Mr. Salisbury married Edith Geer in 1988. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed hunting, bowling, dancing and travel. He was a member of the AFGE, Elks Lodge 520 and American Legion Post 7. Survivors include his wife of Sheridan; a son, Richard of Tucson, Ariz.; a twin brother, Kenneth of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sales was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Seattle to Anthony and Nellie (Lucero) Aversano. She grew up in southern California and graduated from Lennox (Calif.) High School and the University of Wyoming. She came to Sheridan in 1971. She worked at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce several years and was a substitute teacher at Sheridan High School. She worked for several businesses before going to work at Wal-Mart. She married Don Sales in 1978 in Hawaii. They later divorced. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, collecting antiques and seashells, the outdoors, motorcycles, music and dancing. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Mike. James W. Smith, 85, Sheridan, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home, the Revs. Terry Wall and Joe Wolf officiating. Burial is 2:30 p.m. Monday at Oregon Trail Cemetery in Evansville. Born Oct. 28, 1917, in Whitesburg, Pa., to Frank and Vera (McKee) Smith, he graduated from Elderton (Pa.) High School and attended Grove City (Pa.) College. Mr. Smith entered the Army in 1940 and served in the India-Burma Theater until 1946. He returned to Elderton in 1947 and married Audrey Christy on June 14, 1947, in Monateau, Pa. He erected gas rigs and bought a farm in Pennsylvania in 1947. The couple moved in 1965 to Newcastle, where he was a carpenter and managed the employment service office. He also worked a short time at the post office. He was a Farm Bureau agent from 1968 until retiring in 1979. The Smiths moved to Sheridan in 1993. A life member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Reformed Presbyterian Church, he enjoyed RV travel, reading, and his family. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ralph Smith, Wheatland, and Richard Red Smith, Dayton; two daughters, Kathy Kehl, Douglas, and Karen Zerbst, Shell; two brothers, Byron Smith, Bethel Park, Pa., and Donald Smith, Alaska; four sisters, Delnora Hanley and Winifred Henderson, both of Florida, Donna Dean Taylor, Clarion, Pa., and Vivian Lemke, Fallbrook, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He married Helen Krezelok Oct. 16, 1936. They were married 66 years until her death. He worked on a dairy farm and for Sheridan Coal Co. before being employed by Mid Continent Oil for 24 years. He began working at Champion Funeral Home in 1971. He was a member of Sheridan Elks Lodge 520 for 28 years and was 1991-92 Elk of the Year. He was a member of Oddfellows 19. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, attending lodge meetings and raising flowers. In addition to his wife, Mr. Slater was preceded in death by a brother, James, and a grandson, Byron Schilling. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley E. Schilling of Casper and Judy A. LANDER Former Sheridan resident Leona Lee McLain Irion Holbert, 85, of Lander died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 in Lander Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Holbert was born Feb. 20, 1918, in Mulvane, Kan., to Charles Rae McLain and Ora Lee (Newton) McLain. The family moved to Broadus, Mont., when she was 2 years old and homesteaded on the Powder River. She married Stanley Tim Irion in 1938; they later divorced. She moved to Sheridan in 1954. She married Charles Chuck Holbert in 1956. They lived in Sheridan until 1988. They moved to Lander to be with Mrs. Holbert's daughter and her family. Mrs. Holbert enjoyed flowers, birds and being with her family. She was preceded in death by Mr. Holbert, two brothers, one sister and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Koltiska of Lander; a sister, Willene Auntie Shenk of Billings; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Former Sheridan resident Ina M. Crafton Lagae, 81, of Denver died Monday, June 30, 2003, after a long illness. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. July 15 in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Castle Rock, Colo. Mrs. Lagae was born Aug. 15, 1921, in St. Louis to Goldie and Will Crafton. She grew up in Sheridan, where she married James Y. Lagae Dec. 6, 1940. They ranched in Wyoming and New Mexico before moving to Douglas County, Colo., in 1947. Mrs. Lagae enjoyed going to cattle auctions, raising orchids, gardening, traveling and reading. She was the oldest living original member of the Douglas County Book Club and was active in the gardening club. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Dorothy Williamson and Louise Fleming. Survivors include three daughters, Danielle Beck of Longmont, Colo., Nancy King of Castle Rock and Suzanne Herbruck of Boulder, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Cody Lee Holt, 15, of Sheridan died Friday, July 4, 2003, in an automobile accident near Billings. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Dorothy E. Dolly Arzy, 70, of Sheridan died Friday, July 4, 2003, at her residence. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Mrs. Arzy was born March 4, 1933, in Otis, Colo., to Frank and Bertha (Focht) Townsend. She married George Arzy Feb. 6, 1965, in Sheridan. She enjoyed collecting Indian art. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Pearl, Grace, Elizabeth, Ruth and Edith; two brothers, Melvin and Levi; and an infant daughter, Leora Kraft. Survivors include her husband of Sheridan; two sons, Larry Townsend and Robert Kraft, both of Sheridan; three daughters, Linda O'Toole of California and Donna Taylor and Brenda Mines, both of Sheridan; and seven grandchildren.
LANDER Former Sheridan resident Leona Lee McLain Irion Holbert, 85, of Lander died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in Lander Valley Medical Center. Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Hudson's Funeral Home of Lander. Mrs. McLain was born Feb. 20, 1918, in Mulvane, Kan., to Charles Rae McLain and Ora Lee (Newton) McLain. The family moved to Broadus, Mont., when she was 2 years old and homesteaded on the Powder River. She married Stanley Tim Irion in 1938; they later divorced. She moved to Sheridan in 1954. She married Charles Chuck Holbert in 1956. They lived in Sheridan until 1988. They moved to Lander to be with Mrs. McLain's daughter and her family. Mrs. McLain enjoyed flowers, birds and being with her family. She was preceded in death by Mr. McLain, two brothers, one sister and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Koltiska of Lander; a sister Willene Auntie Shenk of Billings; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Eunice L. Falt, 74, of Sheridan died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at her residence. Viewing and visitation will be 7 p.m. Friday at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church on Big Horn highway. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Falt was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Farnhurst, Del., to Elm Tynne Blomquist. She grew up in Richardson Park, Del., and in Washington, D.C., where she graduated from high school. She married Frank J. Falt of Plainfield, Conn., March 1, 1952. They farmed in Connecticut until Mr. Falt died in 1985. Mrs. Falt moved to Sheridan in 1985 and worked for the Job Service of Wyoming. She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Plainfield and in Sheridan. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and visiting with friends. Survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins. She requested that no flowers be sent.
Landen Joseph Poll, 19 days old, of Fort Collins, Colo., died Friday, June 20, 2003, at The Children's Hospital in Denver. Graveside services were June 23 at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins with Bishop Jeff Thomas of the Latter-day Saints Timberline Ward officiating. He was born June 1, 2003, in Fort Collins to Joseph John Poll III, formerly of Sheridan, and Kelsey Marie Odle Poll. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his parents; and grandparents David L. Poll of Sheridan, Jean Puzuhanich Poll of Loveland, Colo., and Eddy and Georgia Odle of Kingman, Ariz. Memorials may be made to The Children's Hospital in care of Lynn Cavaliero, R.N., 1056 E. 19th Ave., B535, Denver, CO 80218. The funds are to be directed to John P. Kinsella, M.D., for the research of persistent pulmonary hypertension and respiratory distress syndrome.

Dorothy Vivian DeWitt Richards, 94, of Sheridan died Thursday, June 26, 2003, in Sheridan VA Medical Center. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Griswold (Iowa) Cemetery. Duhn Funeral Home of Griswold is handling arrangements there. Local arrangements were with Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Richards was born Oct. 19, 1908, in Griswold to Fred Baker and Stella Blanche (Milner) DeWitt. She was a 1926 graduate of Griswold High School and attended Simpson College for two years. She taught school in Nebraska. She married Kenneth Richards. She joined the Women's Army Corps in 1944 and was stationed in California as a medical technician. She received the American Campaign Medal. She was honorably discharged and remained in California, working for Douglas Aircraft Co. She was a member of Griswold United Methodist Church and of Chapter GL, PEO Sisterhood. Survivors include her sister, Maurine J. Olson of Worland, and two nephews.

BROADUS, Mont. Patricia Kay (Gemmell) Stuver, 45, of Broadus died Saturday, June 28, 2003, of injuries from an automobile accident. Visitation is until 8 p.m. today in the Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Powder River Congregational Church in Broadus.
