Calvin E. Brackley, 79, of Sheridan died Monday, June 28, 2004, in his residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion and National Guard. Mr. Brackley was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Buffalo, Mo., to John Michael and Bertha (Mead) Brackley. He grew up and graduated from high school in Buffalo. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Bell Coday July 21, 1945, in Springfield, Mo. He attended Missouri State University after the service. He worked for the American Milking Shorthorn Cattle Society for a while, traveling around the country classifying herds and promoting the breed. He later owned the General Motors dealership in Douglas for three years. He moved to Lander after his retirement and to Sheridan in 1993. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion and Lions Club. He enjoyed visiting family and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles, and a sister, Louise Shewmaker. Survivors include his wife; a son, John C. of Sheridan; three brothers, John M. of Lancaster, Calif., Paul R. of Metairie, La., and James A. of Ringgold, Ga.; and two granddaughters. Memorials may benefit Hospice of the Big Horns, 1401 W. Fifth St., Sheridan, WY 82801 or the donor's choice.

Former Sheridan resident Howard Lee Bud Naylor, 83, of Chadron, Neb., died Sunday, June 27, 2004, in Chadron Community Hospital. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Wheatly officiating. Arrangements are with Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron. Mr. Naylor was born Oct. 30, 1920, in Springfield, Mo., to Harold and Mae Naylor. He grew up in Chadron and was a 1939 graduate of Chadron Prep School. After a semester of college, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard. As chief petty officer and ship's engineer, he served aboard ships in the North Atlantic and Pacific oceans and the South China Sea during World War II. He was discharged in December 1945 and returned to Chadron. He married Chloris E. Norman June 15, 1947. He worked for Henkin's Implement Co. in Chadron as an equipment mechanic and for the Air Force as a technical instructor in Cheyenne before joining the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller in Colorado and Wyoming. He was a Flight Service Station specialist at Sheridan County Airport from 1967-80 and remained in Sheridan until 1987, when he returned to Chadron. He volunteered in many service and community organizations including the Chadron Veterans Honor Guard. He enjoyed flying and was a commercially rated pilot/instructor. He and Mrs. Naylor enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and teaching others to dance. He became a golfer after his retirement. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Deanne Beach. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rhonda Lee Taves of Rapid City; a son, Mitchell A. of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Shirley Jean Wineteer of Chadron and Shannon Marie Thompson of Berthoud, Colo.; a brother, Gary F. of Olympia, Wash.; and four grandsons.

Former Sheridan resident Grace Selina Tyrrell, 96, of Buffalo died Sunday, June 27, 2004, in Buffalo's Amie Holt Care Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. Dr. Karin Stork-Wilson officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Tuesday and 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo with graveside services following the funeral. Mrs. Tyrrell was born Dec. 25, 1907, in Loretta, Neb., to Alfred and Cora Edwardson. She spent her younger years in Edgemont, S.D., and Gillette and attended high school in Gillette. She married Cecil Wilson April 7, 1924, in Gillette. They lived in Gillette, Midwest and Moorcroft. She married Fritz Tyrrell April 17, 1951, in Denver. They lived in Jackson, where they managed the Signal Mountain Lodge on Jackson Lake, before moving to Sheridan in 1960. Mrs. Tyrrell worked at the Sheridan Inn. They moved to Buffalo in 1968. Mrs. Tyrrell worked at the Crossroads Inn there for more than 20 years. Mr. Tyrrell died in October 1984. Mrs. Tyrrell was a member of the Congregational Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion auxiliaries, Daughters of the Nile and the Cancer Support Group. She volunteered at Amie Holt Care Center for many years. In addition to her second husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers, a son and a daughter. Survivors include a daughter, Cora Williams of Buffalo; a stepdaughter, Rande Tyrrell of Gillette; a sister, Betty Lou Potter of Casper; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren.

BUFFALO James Sheridan Boyd, 87, of Buffalo died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Taylor as celebrant. A private family burial will follow. A Vigil of the Deceased will be held and a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements are with Adams Funeral Home. Max Small, 89,of Sheridan died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Viewing will be 8-9:30 a.m. Monday, with family funeral services 2 p.m. Monday at Kane Funeral Home, the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Eagles 186 Cemetery with military rites by the Northern Cheyenne color guard. Mr. Small was born April 24, 1915, in Kirby, Mont., to Tom and Josephine (Rondo) Small. He joined the Army in 1940 and served until 1945, when he was honorably discharged. He received the Purple Heart. He married Helen Bosarich in Buffalo in 1957. He worked as a nurse's aide at Sheridan VA Medical Center for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Victor, Ed and Ivan; and three sisters, Josephine, Hazel and Vera. Survivors include a son, Gary of Portland, Ore.; three daughters, Rose Knight of Lakewood, Colo., Mary Ann Jones of Las Vegas and Barbara Nesbitt of Kansas City; six brothers, Melvin and John, both of Kirby, Ralph of Busby, Mont., Clinton of Ashland, Mont., and Tuck and Horrace, both of Lame Deer, Mont.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services for former Sheridan resident Ruth Helmerick, 74, of Longmont, Colo., were 10 a.m. today in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Helmerick died June 17 in the Hospice Care Center in Louisville, Colo. Thursday's Sheridan Press misstated the service time.
Mattie L. Ross, 80, of Clearmont died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in her residence. A gathering of family and friends will be in July. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Ross was born June 23, 1924, in Tekamah, Neb., to James and Lora (Wilder) Taylor. She grew up and attended schools in Tekamah. She married Howard Randall Ross May 29, 1950, in Omaha, Neb. She worked at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo from 1968 until 1996, when she retired. She enjoyed the outdoors, crossword puzzles and being with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in January 1980 and by three sons and one daughter. Survivors include three sons, Howard Jr. of Casper, Hank of Texas and George of Buffalo; three daughters, Auretta Pehringer and Myrtle Morris, both of Buffalo, and Lottie Freese of Clearmont; two brothers, John Taylor of Tekamah and Russ Taylor of California; a sister, Nellie Millroy of Tekamah; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Former Sheridan resident Ruth Helmerick, 74, of Longmont, Colo., died Thursday, June 17, 2004, in the Hospice Care Center in Louisville, Colo. Funeral services were Wednesday at Westview Presbyterian Church in Longmont. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. Friends may meet before service time at Kane Funeral Home, which is handling local arrangements. Mrs. Helmerick was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Sheridan to Roger and Alice (Richardson) Rochford. She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Arts degree and taught school in Douglas. She married Dr. Robert H. Helmerick June 26, 1954, in Sheridan. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and china painting with friends in the Northern Colorado Artist Porcelain and Porcelain Artist Guild. She was a member and past deacon of Westview Presbyterian Church and member of Deborah Ruth Circle. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean Sherman. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert of Cheyenne and James of Medical Lake, Wash.; three daughters, Jean Gorzalka of Sheridan, Ruth Heald of Casper and Mary Helmerick of Fort Lupton, Colo.; and nine grandchildren. Craig Louis Eckerman, 47, of Story died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at his residence of natural causes. At his request, cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial service will be at a later date. Mr. Eckerman was born Oct. 7, 1956, in Oahu, Hawaii, to James Louis and Nancy (Youart) Eckerman. He grew up and attended schools in Kansas City, Mo. He was a 1981 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. He married Kim Umphrey Sept. 12, 1981, in Massachusetts. The couple moved to Lake Tahoe, Nev., where Mr. Eckerman was a chef for Harvey's Hotel and Casino. They moved to Kansas City in 1987, then to Jackson Hole, where they lived until moving to Story in 1995. Mr. Eckerman was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed baseball, was an avid New York Yankees fan, collected baseball cards, was a history buff and enjoyed putting together models, especially tanks. He also enjoyed the mountains, camping and spending time with his family and his dog, Zappa. Survivors include his wife; three sons, James Louis and Glen Nolan Ryan, both of Story, and Jason Alexander of Seattle; his father, of Springfield, Mo.; his mother, of Mesa, Ariz.; and a brother, Mark of Phoenix. John W. Teini, 78, of Sheridan died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his residence. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Olcott Funeral Home in Red Lodge, Mont. Burial will be in the Red Lodge Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Teini was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Red Lodge to John Henry and Aina (Peltokoski) Teini. He grew up and lived most of his life in the Red Lodge/Roberts area. He married Donna Sharp Dec. 16, 1950, in Sheridan. They lived on the Teini farm 45 years. Mr. Teini served on the boards of trustees of the Fox School and Red Lodge High School while it was being constructed. He was a past exalted ruler and life member of Elks Lodge 534 and the Kaleva Lodge. The family moved to Sheridan in 1999. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Aina Rintala, Aurora Teini and Aarla Trout. Survivors include his wife; four sons, John Dallas of Roundup, Mont., Hugh of Billings, Wayne of Sheridan and Tom of Red Lodge; and eight grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the B.P.O. Valentine Jessie (Riesland) Butler, 90, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at her residence on the Gleason Ranch east of Weston. She was mother of Roberta Lea Billingsley of Dayton. Services were Monday in the Blanch Beck Memorial Chapel at Pioneer Manor in Gillette with the Rev. Gordon Harper of Gillette Christian Vineyard officiating. Mrs. Butler was born Feb. 1, 1914 near Hartford, Kan. She grew up at Rocky Point and was a 1931 graduate of Moorcroft High School. She received her teaching certificate and taught school in the Rocky Point area for two years. She married Bert Byron Butler March 25, 1933, in Broadus, Mont. The family homesteaded on Crazy Woman Creek. They later sold the homestead and worked for different ranches. They later leased a ranch owned by Mr. Butler's parents at Rocky Point and operated it until 1945, when Mr. Butler was drafted into the Navy. The family moved to Gillette and lived there until Mr. Butler died in 1979. Mrs. Butler moved to Lavern, Okla., in 1991 to be near one of her daughters. She returned to Gillette in August 2000, then moved to the Gleason ranch owned by another daughter and son-in-law in May 2003. Mrs. Butler was an avid reader. Survivors include two other daughters, Joan Jessie Boldes of Lavern and Gail Ivon Gleason of Weston; a son, Gary of Cheyenne; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Glen Sheridan Hopkins, 61, of Story died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in Homer, Alaska. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. Mr. Hopkins was born Aug. 22, 1942, in Gillette. He was a graduate of Sheridan High School and an Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Wyoming on a four-year athletic/academic scholarship and achieved All-American status in football. He was a 1967 graduate of the University of Colorado. He worked for Neodata until 1986, when he retired. He worked for North American Fleet Services until his death. Survivors include his mother, Noreen; a daughter, Heather Suits; a son, Tyson; a brother, David; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Association of Cancer Research in care of Karen Green, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
Ji Keun Kim, 70, of Sheridan died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in the Cancer Institute of America in Tulsa, Okla. Graveside services will 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Kim was born Sept. 14, 1933 in South Korea to One Seek and Ta Tam Kim. He grew up and graduated from high school in South Korea. He married Keum Soon In Nov. 14, 1952, in South Korea. He served in the South Korean army during the Korean War. After the war, he farmed and operated a barbershop. The family moved to Sheridan in 1979, and he worked as a custodian for Sheridan County School District 2 until July 1999, when he retired. He enjoyed building things, helping his children with projects, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Young Ki Kim and Joon Kee Kim, both of Sheridan; three daughters, Young Ae Kim of Los Angeles, Kyung Ae Kim of Denver and Myong Ae Handley of Sheridan; a brother, Ji Woon Kim of South Korea; two sisters, Kil Chun Kim and Kil Soon Kim, both of South Korea; and seven grandchildren.

Ernest M. Robinson, 60, of Sheridan died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at his residence. Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy will be 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Story with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Burial will be in Quiet Rest Cemetery in Story. Mr. Robinson was born Feb. 2, 1944, in Santa Barbara, Calif., to Loshel and Ermeline (Markgraf) Robinson. He grew up in California and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1961. He served in Vietnam. He was a Seabee and worked as a construction mechanic and diver. His assignments included duty in Guam and Australia. He received numerous medals and commendations before retiring from the Navy in 1981. He worked for Uniflite Inc. for a while, building boats in North Carolina. He moved back to Santa Barbara in 1983 and worked for Western Board Operators and Griffin Rental Group. He married Monika Braun July 21, 1984, in Summerland, Calif. They moved to Sheridan in 1993, and he worked for Scheckla Trucking and, later, for Agray's. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a pistol instructor. He enjoyed the mountains, hunting, fishing, leather work, cars, airplanes, shooting, reloading, knife-making and collecting belt buckles. He also enjoyed, and won awards in photography. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ernest Jr. of Missouri and Loshel Robbie of California; a daughter, Jaime Robinson of Missouri; a stepdaughter, Sabine Schneider of Munich, Germany; a brother, Loshel Guy of Santa Barbara; four sisters, Lorene Rosen, Marlene Voigt and Judy Young, all of California, and Janice Licatesi of Florida; and seven grandchildren. Former Sheridan resident Francis W. Stephens, 95, of Lincoln, Neb., died Saturday, May 29, 2004. Memorial services were June 4 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. A private family inurnment was in Lincoln Memorial Park. Mr. Stephens was born June 17, 1908, in Bigelow, Mo., to Gene and Mayme (MaCoy) Stephens. He lived in Sheridan from 1955-66, when he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired as chief clerk and office manager. He was a member for more than 50 years of the East Lincoln Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, and a son, Dale. Survivors include a son, Donald of Lincoln; two daughters, Jean Dutton of Bradenton, Fla., and Sally Carroll of Sheridan; a sister, Opal Stewart of Pioneer, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Casper L. Ferneti, 63, of Sheridan died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at his residence. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Mr. Ferneti's cremains will be scattered at the house in which he was born and married. He was born July 28, 1940, in Chicopee, Kan., to Casper and Yolanda (Scaramucci) Ferneti. He grew up and graduated from high school in Pittsburgh, Kan., and obtained a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Oregon. He married Peggy Ward Dec. 31, 1977, in Chicopee. Mr. Ferneti worked many years as a school psychologist, including the past 13 years for Sheridan County School District 2. He was a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and the Wyoming School Psychologist Association. He enjoyed watching old Westerns on television. Survivors include his wife; and a daughter, Linda of Denver.

He worked for Uniflite Inc. for a while, building boats in North Carolina. He moved back to Santa Barbara in 1983 and worked for Western Board Operators and Griffin Rental Group. He married Monika Brown July 21, 1984, in Summerland, Calif. They moved to Sheridan in 1993, and he worked for Scheckla Trucking and, later, for Agray's. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a pistol instructor. He enjoyed the mountains, hunting, fishing, leather work, cars, airplanes, shooting, reloading, knife-making and collecting belt buckles. He also enjoyed, and won awards in, photography. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ernest Jr. of Missouri and Loshel Robbie of California; a daughter, Jaime Robinson of Missouri; a stepdaughter, Sabine Schneider of Munich, Germany; a brother, Loshel Guy of Santa Barbara; four sisters, Lorene Rosen, Marlene Voigt and Judy Young, all of California, and Janice Licatesi of Florida; and seven grandchildren. She married Walt Harker in 1974 in Spokane, Wash. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and did volunteer work. She also belonged to St. John Bosco Group and the Council of Catholic Women for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and most sports. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, a brother and an infant daughter. Former Sheridan resident Charlotte Brooder, 100, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, in San Diego. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be noon Saturday in Mission Hills United Church of Christ in San Diego. Mrs. Brooder was born July 14, 1903, in Bismarck, N.D., to Ida and Carl Viginess. She was captain and center of her basketball team during her youth, was a member of the high school debate team and performed vaudeville acts in nearby towns. She attended college in Mayville, N.D., and taught seventh and eighth grades in Powers Lake, N.D. She later taught third, fourth and fifth grades in the mining town of Monarch, north of Sheridan. She married John F. Brooder Nov. 20, 1936, in Mayville. They made their home in Sheridan. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Chapter T, PEO. She enjoyed playing bridge and Scrabble, working crossword puzzles and spending summers at her cabin in Story. Mr. Brooder died in 1960, and Mrs. Brooder became children's librarian in Sheridan. She retired in 1971 and moved to San Diego to be near a sister. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Survivors include three children, Patricia Spear of Sheridan, Barbara Wolfe of Dallas and Jon of Sausalito, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Olaf R. Ole Lawson Jr., 64, of Gillette died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in New Life Wesleyan Church in Gillette with Hospice Chaplain Ralph Reed officiating. Visiting hours will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette. Mr. Lawson was born May 18, 1940, to Olaf and Mary Jane (Shaw) Lawson Sr. in Grafton, W.Va. He grew up in Grafton and graduated from high school there in 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in September 1958 as a first airman. He was honorably discharged in 1961, and he and his family moved to Sheridan. He managed the XL Hotel for 10 years. He started Ole's Pizza in Sheridan in 1973. He opened an Ole's Pizza in Gillette in 1975 and sold the business in 2004. He enjoyed traveling to new places and spending time on the East Coast, Keyhole Reservoir and Deadwood, S.D. He was preceded in death by an infant brother. Survivors include his wife, Karen; three sons, Tim of Rockport, Maine, Mike of Mesa, Ariz., and Bryan of Gillette; two daughters, Lori Hink of Sheridan and Amber Martin of Maryville, Mo.; a brother, David of Sheridan; a sister, Susan Miller of Columbus, Ohio; and six grandchildren. A memorial has been established to benefit the Hospice of Campbell County Memorial Hospital.

Sheridan native Georgia Ann Dooley, 85, of California died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Mountain View Nursing Home in Sylmar, Calif. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. Tom Saur officiating. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery. She was a 1936 graduate of Sheridan High School. She received nursing training in Sheridan and did her practicum for nursing at the VA Hospital here. She married Elbert Dooley July 3, 1940, in Sheridan. They lived in Sheridan and on a homestead east of the city. Mrs. Dooley worked several years for the Sheridan and VA hospitals. She also worked for Johnson County Hospital from 1960-87, when she retired. Mr. Dooley died in November 1989. Mrs. Dooley lived in Buffalo until 2003, when she moved to California to be near her daughter. She enjoyed painting and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister. Survivors include two sons, Rick of Leiter and Larry of Modesto, Calif.; a daughter, Cheryl Hurd of Lancaster, Calif.; two brothers, George Grace of Buffalo and Don Grace of Sheridan; two sisters, Eunice Sanders of Denver and Beverly Todd of Arizona; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Former Sheridan resident Bertha Heberlein Bea Bryan, 89, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Victorian Cottage Adult Family Home in Coupeville, Wash. Arrangements are with Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor, Wash. Mrs. Bryan was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Streeter, N.D., to Gottlieb and Christina (Job) Mueller. She received her education in North Dakota and Sheridan, where she graduated as a registered nurse. She took postgraduate courses in psychiatry, pediatrics, intensive care and coronary care in Wyoming and later in Colorado and Seattle. She worked for 43 years in all fields of nursing including six years during World War II in the VA hospital in Lexington, Ky. She returned to Seattle and public health duty after the war. She married Frederick Freddy Heberlein in 1961 in Seattle. They traveled throughout the United States, Japan, Mexico and Canada. Mr. Heberlein died in November 1994. She married William T. Bill Bryan in June 1996 in Coupeville, where he was pastor of Coupeville Community Bible Church. Survivors include her husband of Coupeville; two sisters, Emma Milford of Montgomery Village, Md., and Esther L. McWilliams of Sheridan; and a brother, Andy Mueller of Redway, Calif. She lived in Italy, New York City, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Los Angeles before retiring to Sheridan. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roxy, and an infant sister. BUFFALO Geoffrey Douglas Whipple, 32, of Buffalo died Monday, May 31, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Buffalo, with the Rev. Oriel States, 88, of Sheridan died Thursday, May 27, 2004, in Sheridan Manor. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. Mrs. States was born April 26, 1916, in Monarch to Frank and Alice (VanGorder) Lupton. She married Vernon States in March 1935 in Sheridan. Mrs. States enjoyed gardening and sewing and was an avid bridge player. She was a member of the Sheridan County CattleWomen, Lower Tongue River Women's Club, Eastern Star and the Methodist church. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ned, Cecil and Albert; and three sisters, Violet, Thelma and Florence. Survivors include her husband, of Sheridan; two sons, Dean of Sheridan and Duane of Sandy, Utah; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
