Albert Wagner, 85, of Sheridan died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Kirk Peters officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with military rites by the Wyoming National Guard and American Legion Post 7. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Wagner was born March 15, 1918, in Park City, Mont., to Henry and Christina Charlotte (Becker) Wagner. He grew up and attended schools in the Sheridan area. He graduated from Clearmont High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school. He served with the Office of Strategic Services, forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, spending much of his time behind enemy lines. He returned to Sheridan after the war. He attended Sheridan College and received certification as a surveyor. He retired after 32 years with the Wyoming Highway Department. He belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion. He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons, Wayne of Gainesville, Fla., and Timothy of Buffalo; one daughter, Carla Strain of Aurora, Colo.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1300 W. Fifth St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
Estelle E. Sorensen, 80, of Sheridan died Friday, May 30, 2003, at her residence. Services are pending with Kane Funeral Home.
Doris Mae Hawkins, 82, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at her Sheridan home. Viewing is 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Former Sheridan resident Dr. Michael E. Doell, 54, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Saturday, May 24, 2003. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9 El Pomar Road in Colorado Springs. A reception will immediately follow in Pauline Community Center. Arrangements are with the family. An informal gathering in Sheridan to remember Dr. Doell will be 10 a.m. Saturday on the south lawn at Kendrick Mansion. Dr. Doell was born Aug. 21, 1948, in Norfolk, Va., to Robert and Margaret Peggy Doell. He attended Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., from 19661970, then was accepted into the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. He graduated in 1974 and did his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Colorado in Denver. He remained in Denver in private practice at St. Luke's Hospital from 19781982. He married Jennifer Lynn Wolfer in 1981. They moved to Sheridan, where he joined a private practice in OB/Gyn serving the northern Wyoming area. The family returned to Colorado Springs in 1992, and he was in practice at Penrose Hospital at the time of his death. He enjoyed being in the mountains with family and friends. He loved his horses, pack trips, hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, tennis, traveling and the beach. Survivors include his wife; daughters Chelsey and Molly and sons Ryan and Cameron, all of Colorado Springs; his parents, of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.; a brother, Patrick of Honolulu; and a sister, Sue Doell of Hawaii. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

DAYTON Angela Hager Wilkerson, 42, of Denver died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in Denver after a long battle with cancer. She was daughter of Pete and Sally Hager of Dayton. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hager yard in Dayton, with burial in Dayton Cemetery, according to the family. Survivors include her husband, Barry; a daughter, Kassi, and sons Justin and Tommy, all of Denver; three sisters, Susan Morrison of Brighton, Colo., Denise Garde of Charlotte, N.C., and Lisa Gyllenswan of Atlanta; and three brothers, David of Denver, Kenneth of Farmington, Utah, and Danny of Harrisville, Utah.

Former Sheridan resident G. Duane Lindsey, 71, of Worland died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Washakie Medical Center after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Worland with Marion Canterbury officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home in Worland. Mr. Lindsey was born in Gillette to Benjamin and Laura (Kinead) Lindsey. The family moved to Sheridan, and he graduated from Sheridan High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was discharged in 1954. He returned to Sheridan and worked for Wyoming Automotive. He moved to Worland for two years, then to Rock Springs in 1958. He married Bunny Dorrence Aug. 16, 1959, in Rock Springs. They lived in Jackson for a short time, then moved to Worland in 1961. They owned and operated Lindsey Automotive from 1967 until 1985. Mr. Lindsey worked part time for Western Motors and Carquest from 1985 until this year, when he retired. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and tinkering in his garage. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth, and a sister, Betty. Survivors include his wife of Worland; four daughters, Linda Garretson of Sheridan, Lisa Garretson of Worland, Diane MacGavin of Casper and Luanne Gentilini of Baker, Mont.; two brothers, Jim of Buffalo and Archie of Washington, Utah; and 14 grandchildren. Charles A. Lilley, 78, Sheridan, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in Deaconess Hospital, Billings. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Military rites are by the Marine Corps League and American Legion. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Lilley was born Sept., 7, 1924, in Acme to Albert and Violet (Hill) Lilley. He grew up and attended schools in Acme and Sheridan. He married Nancy Emma Jean Towns in 1942 in Hardin, Mont. He enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II serving with the 4th Marine Division in the South Pacific. After the service, he returned to Sheridan and worked as a meat cutter. Later he moved to Washington working as a meat cutter until he retired in Vancouver, Wash. He returned to Sheridan in 1990. A son, Charles, and a grandson, David, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Jean Lilley; two daughters, Karen Gambs and Christy Northrop, both of Vancouver; three brothers, Gerald Lilley, Fair Oaks, Calif., William Lilley, Sheridan, and Larry Lilley, Albany, Ore.; three sisters, Virginia Stevens, Sheridan, Alice Hyder, Cedar City, Utah, and Betty Snodgrass, Ramona, Calif. 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert E. "Bob" Burke, 77, of Sheridan died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at his residence. Funeral services were Thursday at Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian Church in Martin, S.D. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine, Neb. Ziegler Funeral Home in Martin was in charge of arrangements. Local arrangements were with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Burke was born March 5, 1926, in Belle Fourche, S.D., to Billie and Olive (Reeves) Burke. He was a 1943 graduate of Bennett County High School. He married Jackie Cuddy in 1946. They ranched in Tuthill, S.D., until 1956, when the family moved to Keenesburg, Colo. The couple divorced in 1955. Mr. Burke moved to Martin in 1973 and bought his father's ranch. He married Mary Ladely in 1979, and they bought a retirement home in Sheridan in 1992. They made many trips each year between their ranch in South Dakota and their home in Sheridan. Mr. Burke was preceded in death by a twin brother, Howard. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry of Alexandria, Va., and Bill of Greeley, Colo.; two daughters, Judy Williams of Littleton, Colo., and Sandi Weickum of Keenesburg, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Dahna Chaitanya of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Betty Hagler of Sanger, Texas, and Helen Jorgenson of Chamberlain, S.D.; two brothers, Ed of Gordon, Neb., and Ronnie of Billings; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established to the Martin Community Cemetery and Mount Hope Cemetery.
Clearmont native Janeva W. Chapline, 78, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at her residence in El Paso, Texas. Services were at St. Luke's Methodist Church, where she was a member. Mrs. Chapline was born April 9, 1925, in Clearmont to Marshall and Martha Mitchell. She married Merl Chapline in January 1945. He was in the U.S. Army, and they were stationed in a number of states and in Guam and Germany for several years. They moved to El Paso after he retired from the service. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Dee, and one grandchild. Survivors include her husband; four daughters and one son; two brothers, Chuck and Kenny and a sister, Della Kaufman, all of Sheridan; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Lee Dell Robinson, 48, of Sheridan died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in Sheridan. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Goodwin officiating. Mr. Robinson was born Jan. 25, 1955, in Gypsum, Colo., to Louis D. and Fay A. (Elliott) Robinson. He married Heidi Peterson June 12, 2002, in Las Vegas. He enjoyed shooting and riding his Harley. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors, all of Sheridan, include his wife; a sister, Sarah Gomez; and a nephew, Tim Sears. Ruth Catherine Andrews, 93, of Sheridan died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, in Westview Health Care Center. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be on a later date at Chapel of the Skyline Presbyterian Church Camp near Encampment. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Ms. Andrews was born Oct. 8, 1909, in Milwaukee to Edward Vail and Hattie (Burge) Andrews. She attended Trowbridge Elementary School and was a 1927 graduate of Bay View High School in Milwaukee. She earned a bachelors degree in music from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., in 1931 and a masters degree in music from Iowa State University in Iowa City in 1935. She taught at Texas Womens University in Denton from 1935-47, then was supervisor of music in Denton public schools from 1947-52. She taught in the Daniels Elementary School in Kerrville, Texas, from 1952-69. She was a member for more than 50 years of the American Association of University Women. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, serving as organist, pianist and reader among other positions. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward A. and Robert B. Survivors include a niece, Claire L. Andrews of Kutztown, Pa.; and a nephew, Bruce L. of Sheridan. Memorials may be made to First Church of Christ Scientist, 455 Sumner, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Former Sheridan resident Deborah Denise (Henry) Nelson, 49, of St. Louis died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at her residence of natural causes. Ms. Nelson was born June 3, 1953, in Casper to Raymond Henry and Marcelee H. Nelson. She was a 1971 graduate of Sheridan High School as a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Sheridan College on scholarship and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She married Richard Lentz Aug. 5, 1972. She received a bachelors degree and masters degree, both magna cum laude, in computer science from Maryville College. She was inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma, a national honor society. She worked for Nerco Corp., a job that took her family to Alaska then to St. Louis. She also worked for Citicorp, Ralston Purina, Monsanto Corp. and Anheuser Busch Corp. She was an avid reader and enjoyed travel and working with computers. She loved spending time with family, friends and organizations with which she was involved. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her mother of Sheridan; one daughter, Renee Dawn Euler of Denver; a brother, Michael Henry of Cheyenne; and one granddaughter. Norma Faye Edelen, 82, of Sheridan died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at her residence. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place later. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral home. Mrs. Edelen was born Nov. 6, 1920, to Alonzo and Marie (Fredrickson) Coast on a farm near Ranchester. She was a legal secretary for various attorneys in Sheridan for many years. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Bill; one son, Terry Schilling of McLean, Va.; one daughter, Marti Stearns of Gillette; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Arthur J. Bocek, 58, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, in Sheridan. Cremation has taken place and family services are planned. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bocek was born April 26, 1945, in Sheridan. He was a lifelong Sheridan resident. He loved fishing, hunting and visiting with friends and family. He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Alan Bocek; and his mother and father, Evan and Frank Bocek. Survivors include a daughter; three sisters, Lee Rompf of Wyarno, and Connie Perry and Dale Ann Miller, both of Sheridan; one brother, Ed Bocek, also of Sheridan; and a grandson. Memorials are suggested to the soup kitchen via First Christian Church of Sheridan.
BUFFALO Charles William Holland, 64, of Buffalo died Friday, May 16, 2003, in Torrington. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with the Rev. Sheridan dentist Arthur Ely Stolcis, 87, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, in the Sheridan VA Medical Center. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ronald Stolcis as celebrant. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Dr. Stolcis was born July 19, 1915, in Cambria to Marco and Candida (Fattor) Stolcis. He attended elementary school in Cambria. He was a 1932 graduate of Sheridan High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Quill & Scroll, the Prom Committee and the Library Club. He attended the University of Wyoming for three years, then received his doctorate in dental surgery from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. He was president of his senior class (1937) and a member of Delta Sigma Delta, Alpha Sigma Nu and Xavier Forum. He practiced dentistry two years in Hemmingford, Neb., before enlisting in the U.S. Army Dec. 26, 1941, at March Field, Calif. He was battalion dental surgeon attached to the 812th Aviation Engineer Battalion and served in the European Theater, North Africa, Sicily and southern Italy. He was awarded the European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was discharged a major at Fort Logan, Colo., in 1946. He returned to Sheridan and operated the family ranch until his death. He was noted for his love of animals. He was preceded in death by twin brothers, Fiore and Robert. Survivors include two nephews, Father Ronald A. of Sheridan and Dr. Robert J., DDS, of Denver; and a sister-in-law, Teddy Stolcis of Sheridan. Patrick Marshall Hamilton, 59, of Las Vegas died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in Las Vegas, according to his sister, Jo Baker of Sheridan. Cremation has taken place, and the family plans a celebration of life in July in Wisconsin. Mr. Hamilton was born Oct. 31, 1943, in Prairie du Sac, Wis., to Ruth and Damon Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arden. Survivors include his wife, Lori; one daughter, Deeanna of Baraboo, Wis.; and four other sisters, Judy of Alamo, Texas, Janet of Sauk City, Wis., Jeri of Blue Mound, Wis., and Joyce of Baraboo.

David Duprey officiating. Burial will be in the Eagles Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Bissell was born April 18, 1909, in Lincoln, Neb., to Walter Ross and Emma (Kulper) Harris. The family moved to Sheridan when she was 5 years old. She attended Sheridan Elementary and was a 1928 graduate of Sheridan High School. She married Hershel Aldridge in 1928. She worked for Vaughn Ragsdale 13 years. She moved to Riverton in 1946 and was employed by J.M. McDonalds Co. for 20 years. She married William Bissell in 1952. They were divorced in 1966. She returned to Sheridan in 1972. She was a member of BPO Does 127 and past president of Eagles Auxiliary 186. She was a member of the Auxiliary since 1938. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, knitting and playing bingo. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Higgs of Sheridan; a sister, Winifred Woodhead of Sheridan; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Kathryn Elizabeth Blakeman, 96, of Sheridan died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at her residence. Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be later. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Blakeman was born Feb. 16, 1907, to Kate Elizabeth (Goodrich) and William David Roadifer in Sundance. She attended schools in Sundance and graduated from Sundance High School. She attended normal training in Spearfish, S.D., and taught school in Crook County for several years. She married Manuel "Buck" Sipe in 1928. Mr. Sipe died, and Mrs. Blakeman married Jerry Merle Blakeman in 1937 in Sundance. They moved to Sheridan in 1944. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and taking care of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; a daughter, Margaret Davis; and 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son, Jerry Blakeman of Sheridan; a daughter, Jean Holwell of Sheridan; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Hall Funeral Home of Grants Pass. Mrs. Livingston was born June 16, 1922, in Stanthrope, Queensland, Australia. She worked as a telephone operator in Gen. McArthur's headquarters in Brisbane, Australia, during World War II. She married Elwood Livingston Nov. 17, 1943, in Brisbane and came to America in 1946 as a war bride on the ship Mariposa. She was a resident of Sheridan until 1975, when she moved to Grants Pass to be close to family. She became a U.S. citizen in 1955. She enjoyed knitting, reading and caring for others. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Patricia O'Brien; and two brothers, Jack and Richard Hamilton. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Mathis of Sheridan, Jennifer Christenson of Grants Pass and Shirley Cockrell of Medford, Ore.; two sons, John of Missoula, Mont., and Gregory of Littleton, Colo.; a brother, Oswald Hamilton of Brisbane; and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph Cherni Jr., 90, of Sheridan died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at his residence. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Mr. Cherni was born April 13, 1913, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, to Joseph and Barbara (Hays) Cherni. The family moved to Wyoming when he was a child, and he was raised on a farm on Tongue River. He worked for many ranches around Sheridan before pursuing a career as a mechanic. He worked for Mid Continent Oil and Cook Ford Sales until he retired. He married Helen Madzia in Sheridan in 1944. He enjoyed gardening, photography, long rides through the country and visiting with family and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Andy, Mike and Leslie. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara and Elizabeth; a son, Joseph III; four brothers, Steve, George, Rudy and William; a sister, Elsie; and one grandson, all of Sheridan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Former Sheridan resident Agnes K. Kochel, 93, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, in Tucson, Ariz. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Kochel was born May 17, 1909, in Sheridan to Peter J. and Mary (Fieolek) Kumor. The family homesteaded on the Dow Prong of Dutch Creek, and she attended the Upper Dutch Creek School and Sheridan High School. She went to work for Eatons' Dude Ranch in June 1924. She married Reid Kochel of Miles City, Mont., Oct. 20, 1931, and they both worked for Eatons' ranch in Wolf for many years. They also worked on the Rimrock Ranch in Arizona and the Bar Eleven horse ranch at Echeta. She was a member of the Catholic Church and the Tucson Cowbells. She enjoyed the warm climate in Tucson, her home and flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include one son, Raymond Reid of Tucson; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Zowada was born April 27, 1908, in Dietz to John and Cecelia (Kiczek) Mentock. She grew up and attended school in Dietz. She married Michael Zowada April 25, 1926, in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Monarch. They lived in Dietz until 1933, when they moved to Acme. Mr. Zowada died in 1956, and Mrs. Zowada later moved to Sheridan. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, the Turtles and Holy Name Catholic Church. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed cooking and family gatherings. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Survivors include two sons, Edward and Michael, both of Sheridan; a sister, Rose Coassin of Worland; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dean M. Rudy, 58, of Mills died Friday, May 2, 2003, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was employed by Ranchester-based S&T Trucking. Arrangements are with Bustard's Funeral Home of Casper. Mr. Rudy was born Oct. 23, 1944, in Hornell, N.Y., to Russell Dean Plank and Louise Alma Rudy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1965. He married Elizabeth Lee Winters Aug. 28, 1965. They later divorced. Mr. Rudy came to Wyoming in 1978. He married Hazel Ruth Moll Hoffman March 19, 1982, in Shelby, Mont. He worked in construction for a short time but switched to the trucking business. He worked for C&Y Transportation for 15 years, then moved to S&T Trucking almost five years ago. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his new puppy, Mo Jo, and enjoyed working on his yard and being outside. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dean Michael of Elgin, S.C., and Christopher Joseph of Centreville, Va.; a daughter, Heather Renee Wood of Gillette; two brothers; two sisters; and six grandchildren.

RANCHESTER John Munn Crawford, 55, of Ranchester died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center. Memorial services will be at a later date. He lived in Sheridan and attended school until 1965 when he entered the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Boxer until 1968. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars. He married Pat Griffin Feb. 14, 1993, in Ranchester. He loved the outdoors. He hunted for big-game deer, rode his four-wheeler and fly-fished and camped with his wife and dogs. He also loved woodworking and spent hours in his shop designing and building furniture. He was a member of the American Drum and Bugle Corps for many years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Kuta. Survivors include his wife, of Ranchester; two daughters, Jo Pooley of Sheridan and Christy Crawford Petersen of Casper; three sons, Johnnie P. of Casper, Warren and Milton of Riverton; a sister, Margo Dexter; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. RANCHESTER James J. "Jim" Keller, 80, of Ranchester died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Mr. Keller was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Warren and Annie (Earls) Keller. He grew up in Elizabeth and graduated from high school there. He served with the U.S. Armys 79th Combat Engineers in the South Pacific during World War II. He returned to Elizabeth after the war and married Ruth Ann Sullivan there June 1, 1946. He worked for International Harvester Co. and later for Pettibone Corp. as national director of marketing. He retired in 1986 and moved to Ranchester. He later moved to Kentucky, then returned to Ranchester in 2001. He enjoyed fishing, telling stories and jokes and daily senior lunches in Dayton. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and attended Ranchester Community Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel of Ranchester; three daughters, Susan Keller of Wonder Lake, Ill., Eileen Pancyrz of McHenry, Ill., and Sheila Galuppo of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Bill of Long Valley, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Lucille M. Wilson, 91, of Sheridan died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Sheridan Manor. Cremation has taken place. Mrs. Wilson was born May 27, 1911, in Sedalia, Mo., to Claude and Rose (Godsey) Irwin. The family moved to Wyoming when she was a child. She married Laeyton Wilson in 1929 in Albin, Neb. They traveled for several years before settling in Gillette. Mrs. Wilson was a metal lathe operator at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif., during World War II. They returned to Wyoming after the war. They owned and operated Arrowhead Lodge in the Big Horn Mountains and later the Trailside above Buffalo until retiring in the early 1960s. They also had a fishing boat rental at Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. Mrs. Wilson was a seamstress and creative artist. She loved animals and enjoyed being with her grandsons, her cocker spaniel and cat, and caring for her yard, trees and flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother. She was a nurse at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County for 37 years until 1990, when she retired. She belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Sheridan and the District 3 Nurses Association. She enjoyed flower gardening, horseback riding, her pets and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband and one grandson. Stella N. (Mock) Schriver, 78, of Chambersburg, Pa., died Friday, April 18, 2003, in Chambersburg. Services were April 24 in Chambersburg. Burial will be private. Mrs. Schriver was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Buffalo to Everett Valentine Mock Sr. and Gertrude Veronica (Dorrenbacher) Neese. She attended school in Sheridan. She married John J. Schriver on Feb. 20, 1961, in Denver. They had lived in Chambersburg since 1966. She worked in food service most of her adult life. While in Chambersburg, she worked with her husband in a laundry service at Wilson College and also worked for Mike Cipolla Catering Service. She retired in 1989. She belonged to Falling Spring Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg, where she was a member of the sewing circle. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, James William Schriver, Houston; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Bruce Schriver, and two brothers, Everett Lincoln Mock Jr. and Robert Mock.

Former Sheridan resident Joann L. Prophet, 62, died Friday, April 25, 2003, in Sacramento, Calif. A family service was Monday. A memorial service was Thursday in Sacramento. Mrs. Prophet was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Kleenburn to Joe and Phyllis (Aksamit) Legoski. She was active in 4-H, earning scholarships from Sheridan High School to the University of Wyoming and winning trips to 4-H Congress and the United Nations. She earned a dietetic scholarship after graduating from UW and completed her internship in Houston. She retired from University of California-Davis after 22 years as a lecturer with the Department of Food Services Management. She received numerous awards in her field. She enjoyed reading, traveling and collecting cookbooks. Survivors include her husband, George; daughters Jodilee and Bonnie; her mother of Sheridan; two sisters, Jeanne Mayer of Carson City, Nev., and Lori Legoski of Sheridan; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Former Sheridan-area resident Elva I. Harris, 87, of Pinedale died Monday, April 28, 2003, in St. John's Hospital in Jackson. Viewing is 1-5 p.m. today at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Harris was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Cumberland, Wis., to Olaf and Mary Louella (Moorehead) Lawson. She grew up and was educated in Sundance. She completed normal training and was a rural school teacher in the Gillette area for many years. She married Richard Phillip Phil Harris May 17, 1936, in Gillette. They ranched for several years in Wyola, Mont., working for the Antler Land and Cattle Co. They later bought the Murdock place near Lodge Grass, Mont., and raised registered Hereford cattle. They moved to the CX Ranch in Decker, Mont., in 1968. Mrs. Harris owned and operated the Big Horn Motel in Dayton in the early 1980s. Mr. Harris died in 1992, and Mrs. Harris moved to Green Rock Village in Green River in 1993. She had been a resident of the Sublette Retirement Center in Pinedale since October 1999. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by a brother, Charles V. Lawson; a sister, Audley Van Leuvan; and a grandson, Steven M. Young. Survivors include two sons, Richard of Las Vegas and Steve of Cottonwood, Ariz.; two daughters, Donna Yeager of Cora and Carol Worden of Fort Myers, Fla., and Cora; a sister, Mable Record of Gillette; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Former Sheridan resident Ray Frances Kraft Sr., 91, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in the Life Care Center in Ritzville, Wash. Arrangements are pending, according to the family. Mr. Kraft was born March 6, 1912, in Sayle, Mont. He married Emma Snyder Aug. 29, 1936. He moved to Sheridan in 1952 and to Montana in 1961. He worked on construction in Wyoming and Montana. He retired in Plains, Mont., in 1977, and he and Mrs. Kraft moved to Sprague, Wash., in 1999. Mrs. Kraft died in January 2001. Survivors include three children, Ray Jr. of Sheridan, Evalyne Tabor of Sprague and Rose Sheehan of Plains; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
