Jackie Malyurek, 89, of Sheridan, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Wold officiating. Born March 22, 1919, in Fort Meade, Fla., to Leonard and Levie Ellison, she was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Fort Meade High School in 1938. She married Sheridan native Michael Malyurek on May 19, 1944, in Miami. She worked as a secretary for the Works Progress Administration while her husband served overseas in Burma during World War II. Following the war, the couple made their home in Sheridan, where she was a homemaker. Mrs. Malyurek served on the first board of directors for Rehabilitation Enterprises of North Eastern Wyoming. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, making quilts and canning. She was known for her Southern hospitality and lively sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband and six brothers and sisters. Survivors include four children, Danny Malyurek, Lana Wood and Shirley Malyurek, all of Sheridan, and Linda Farnsworth of Edgewood, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rhonda Kay Briscoe, 52, of Sheridan, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at her residence. At the family's request, no services are planned. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born May 4, 1956, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to David &ldquoPete&rdquo and Delores (Pullen) Briscoe, she moved with her family to Dayton when she was in sixth grade. She attended Dayton Elementary School, graduated from Tongue River High School in 1974, and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in physical education. She taught school in Lusk and Lyman for two years each before going to work as an electrician for Tenneco Mining Co. in Green River, where she was employed 10 years. She moved to Midwest and worked in Casper before moving to Sheridan in the mid-1990s. She was active in many sports in high school and college and won championships in the javelin and the shot put. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, horses, and her dogs and cats. She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother. Survivors include her father of Dayton; a brother, Roy Briscoe of Albuquerque, N.M.; and an adopted daughter, Jesse Anne Briscoe of Rawlins. Shirley Diane (Harrsch) Ingersoll, 62, of Sheridan died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at her home. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Champion Ferries Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Sheridan to Sylvanus Darvin Harrsch and Wilma Evelyn (Drake) Harrsch, a military family that moved several times. She spent much of her adult life in Sheridan. She enjoyed animals, particularly show horses, and won several ribbons at equestrian events. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kay (Harrsch) Thompson, and a brother, Gregory. Survivors include three aunts.
Fanny Ann Clark, 93, of Sheridan, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount View Cemetery in Basin with the Rev. Warren Frelund officiating. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Born March 7, 1915, in Meeteetse to Hubert and Estella Clawson Smith, she grew up in the Meeteetse area and graduated from Meeteetse High School. She married Justice David Clark in Red Lodge, Mont., in 1934. She cooked at the Basin Cafe for many years. When her husband died, she moved to Birney, Mont., where she cooked at the Quarter Circle U Ranch before retiring and moving to Sheridan in 1970. Survivors include a son, Melvin of Sheridan; a brother, Frank Smith of Meeteetse; two grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sterling F. "Corky" Corcoran, 95, of Sheridan, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at Westview Health Care Center. Burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors. Born Nov. 17, 1912, in Redfield, S.D., to Charles and Ethelyn (Richardson) Corcoran, he was raised and educated in Redfield. He married Frances Wiegel in Redfield on Sept. 20, 1941. Mr. Corcoran was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He spent most of his life as an electronic specialist for various government contractors. He was a member of American Legion Post 7 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter, a son, a granddaughter, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include five children, Sterling Jr. and Leilani Corcoran, both of Wyoming, Penny Corcoran and Donna Collins of Arizona, and Stuart Corcoran of South Dakota; two sisters, Myrna Crooks and Mavis Berry; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Dorothy A. Schoofs, 78, of Germantown, Wis., died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008. Her daughter is Sandy Thiel of Sheridan. Survivors include a son, Steven of Rosholt, Wis.; a second daughter, Pam of Sussex, Wis.; four brothers, Leo, Bill, Mark and Phillip; and a sister, Denise. Former Sheridan resident Lorna P. Thomas, 75, of Worland died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at Washakie Medical Center in Worland following a brief illness. Cremation has taken place. At her request, there will be no formal services; her ashes will be scattered over the Pacific Ocean. Bryant Funeral Home in Worland is in charge of arrangements. Born March 7, 1933, in Upton to Ivan Earl and Norma Luella (Degner) King, she graduated from Ranchester High School in 1951. She married Richard L. Chapman that year in Sheridan. The couple made their home in Sheridan until 1966, when she relocated to Phoenix. She moved to Worland in 2001 to be closer to her family and lived there until her death. She enjoyed painting, upholstering and refinishing furniture, attending flea markets, collecting sea shells, cooking, reading and her recent studies in Buddhism with a group in Worland. Survivors include four children, Keith Chapman of Ten Sleep, Randy Chapman of Los Alamos, N.M., Daryl Chapman of Naples, Idaho, and Valerie Orsulak of Glendale, Ariz.; four brothers, Loren King of Moorcroft, Larry King of Ten Sleep, and Lyle and Robin King, both of Newcastle; and four grandchildren.

Rollo Greimann, 82, of Buffalo, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, Minn. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth with military honors. Born Oct. 27, 1925, in Blue Earth to Ernest and Anna (Lau) Greimann, he grew up and went to school in Blue Earth, graduating from Blue Earth High School in 1943. He joined the U.S. Navy in January 1945 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, where he was a pharmacist mate 3rd class.. He married Phyllis Matthews in 1945 and they resided in Blue Earth, where Mr. Greimann farmed. Mrs. Greimann died in 1971. Mr. Greimann moved to Buffalo in 1988, sold stock trailers and refurbished antique tractors. He also operated a craft business making miniature harness and hay wagons for Bryer Horses. He lived in Buffalo with his companion, Mary Forcier, until his death. He enjoyed riding snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, hunting and the mountains. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Barry; a brother, Milt; and a great-grandchild. Survivors include a son, Gene Greimann of Hardin, Mont.; a daughter, Connie Peterson of Frost, Minn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Wilma Lena Lampman, 88, of Buffalo, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo. Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at St. Luke&rsquos Lutheran Church in Buffalo with Pastor John Orwig officiating. Private interment is planned in Rawlins. Born on Feb. 19, 1920, in Rawlins to Billy and Lena Collins, she grew up in Rawlins and graduated from Rawlins High School in 1938. She married Carl E. Latoski in 1939, and they resided in Rawlins, where she was a homemaker. She was divorced and in 1946 married Neil Herther and continued to live in Rawlins. In the late 1970s she married John Lampman. They lived in Rawlins and later in Pendleton, Ore. In 1994 she moved to Buffalo and in 1995 became a resident of Amie Holt Care Center. She had Parkinson&rsquos disease for more than 50 years. She enjoyed fishing, dancing and singing. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Clarence Harper; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include a son, Steve Herther of Buffalo; three daughters, Connie Johnson of Cortez, Colo., Valerie Moeller of Eagle River, Alaska, and Lana Moyer of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Earl Harper of Victor, Mont.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous extended-family grandchildren. Thomas J. McGrath Jr., 83, of Barefoot, Bay,
Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, in Sheridan VA Medical
Center. Funeral liturgy will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name
Catholic Church with the Rev. Felix Martinito as celebrant.
Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. McGrath
was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Medford, Mass., to Thomas J. and
Catherine Monica (Hopkins) McGrath Sr.
He came to Sheridan from Florida in August to be near his son.
Survivors include three sons, Carl of Sheridan, Kevin of Georgia,
and Brian of Australia; three daughters, Sharon Yoker of
Missouri, Pamela Baker of California, and Cathy McKim of Georgia;
eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mary Ingersoll, 92, of Buffalo died
Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, in Johnson County Health Care Center.
Services are 10 a.m. today at Adams Funeral Home with the Rev.
Tom Saur officiating. Private interment will be in Willow Grove
Cemetery. Born June 7, 1916, in Hayden, Colo., to Marion and
Josephine Yoast, she grew up on the family ranch outside Hayden
and attended country school. After her schooling, she worked on
the ranch.
She married Oakley Carl Ingersoll on May 11, 1937, in Hayden. They made their home in Calpet, Wyo., where Mr. Ingersoll worked for Texas Oil Co. In 1941 they moved to Hamilton, Colo., and later to Toe Creek and Rangely, Colo. In 1955 they moved to Craig, Colo., where Mr. Ingersoll continued to work for Texaco. They moved to Casper in 1965 and Kaycee in 1970, retiring in 1972 and returning to Casper. In 1991 they moved to Buffalo. Mr. Ingersoll died in 1999. A lifelong member of Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Ingersoll enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking and attending weekly hairstyling appointments at the Hen House. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a grandson. Survivors include a son, Oakley Carl Ingersoll Jr. of Pinedale; two daughters, Mary Rhoads of Buffalo and Carla Ann Scott of Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother, Leonard Yoast of Hayden; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Olive Morris, 79 of Sheridan, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place and per her request, no services are scheduled. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Morris was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Blaine, Okla., to James and Frances (Wilhite) Sherod. She graduated in 1950 from St. Vincent nursing program in Billings and worked as a registered nurse for more than 30 years in Cody and Sheridan. She married Glenn Morris on Jan. 6, 1953, in Cody. Mrs. Morris enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, rock hunting, archeology, and gardening with her husband. She was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Loewen. Survivors include her husband; two children, Brian Morris and Diane Mitchell, both of Sheridan; a niece; and a nephew. Memorials may benefit Sheridan Senior Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
Jill Craven Horton, 45, of Buffalo, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, of cancer. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Monday at Adams Funeral Home chapel in Buffalo. They divorced. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards with her friends and cooking, especially new recipes. She was devoted to her faith in God. Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Schantz and Stephany Beaver of Sheridan; siblings Gary Horst of Sheridan, Bob Horst of Rock Springs, and Mary Kay Mate of Boise, Idaho; and two grandchildren. Sheridan native Kevin Dean Mullenberg, 22, of Billings died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, in Worden, Mont., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, according to family members. Funeral services for Mullenberg and his brother, Richard, of Worden, who died in the same accident, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lodge Grass (Mont.) in the Catholic Church gymnasium. James W. Scheckla, 80, of Sheridan, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral liturgy will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis as celebrant. Interment will be Friday in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Tigard, Ore. Born Jan. 25, 1928, in Portland, Ore., to Albert and Gertrude (Ochs) Scheckla, he grew up on a farm in Tigard and graduated from St. Anthony's High School in 1946. He was a self-employed truck driver. He started logging at age 18 in Oregon. He started his own trucking company in Northern California, then sold it before moving to Ashland, Mont., in 1979. In 1981, he moved to Spearfish, S.D., and in 1984 he moved to Sheridan. Mr. Scheckla continued to be involved in logging and hauled logs in Alaska in 1994. He returned to Sheridan and did over-the-road trucking until his death. He enjoyed flying his own airplane, racing stock cars, collecting guns and coins, hunting, fishing, cooking, auctions, all music from the &rsquo40s, &rsquo50s, and &rsquo60s, and attending class reunions. He especially enjoyed yearly family reunions. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; three brothers, Howard, Robert, and Charles (Chuck) Scheckla; and five sisters, Ethel Harris, Lucille Scheckla, Helen Kemmer, Edith S. Waterman, and Marie Hutchinson. Survivors include three sons, Craig Scheckla of Clam Gulch, Alaska, and Curtis and Bart Scheckla, both of Sheridan; one brother, Bernie Scheckla, of Oregon; one sister, Clara Kreick, of Oregon; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Anthony Wiley, 61, of Sheridan, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008. A celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Wold officiating. Mr. Wiley was born in Denver to Norman and Helen Wiley on Nov. 23, 1946. He married Lynnelle Gravning on Feb. 3, 1965, in Denver. He lived in Sheridan for more than 30 years, worked as a tile contractor, and owned his own business, Shamrock Tile. He was a member of the Eagles Club and the local Walleye Club. He enjoyed having coffee with friends, hunting, fishing and competing in Walleye tournaments with his son. He was known as a friend to all, outgoing, helpful, and a devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Mills and Mary Wiley. Survivors include his mother of Sheridan; his wife; a daughter, Tammy Severs of Sheridan; a son, Chris of Sheridan; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a nephew.
A celebration of life for Melvin J. Duerst of Sheridan will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Church, 4351 Big Horn Ave. Mr. Duerst, 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. His obituary appeared in the Oct. 3 Sheridan Press.

Beverly J. Wallitsch, 73, of Sheridan, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Westview Health Care Center. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Mrs. Wallitsch was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Los Angeles to Herbert and Alice Boner. She married Rudy Wallitsch in Sheridan in July 1954. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, socializing and making people laugh, animals, cooking, music, dancing, travel, old movies, playing card games and bingo. Her husband preceded her in death. She was the companion of John Norwash of Sheridan. Survivors include her children, Helen Fuller of Gillette, Shirley Wallitsch of New York City, and Rudy Wallitsch Jr. of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Elaine Friedman of Phoenix and Ann Carson of New Orleans; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Hildegarde M. Dallman, 97, of Sheridan, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, in Sheridan Manor. Memorial service will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minn. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Born Oct. 15, 1910, near Hutchinson to John and Augusta (Zabel) Lambke, she married Eldor J. Dallman on June 10, 1933. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on their dairy farm. Mr. Dallman died in 1980. Mrs. Dallman moved to Sheridan in 2006 to live with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Geraldine; a great-granddaughter; and six siblings. Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Delf of Sheridan; a son, Dr. John Dallman of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Beach of Dassel, Minn.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
John L. Johnsen, 43, of Sheridan, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, in his home. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Roger Brinkeroff officiating. Born Jan. 31, 1965, in Oxnard, Calif., to Warren and Ruby (Cedar) Johnsen, he grew up and attended schools in Kaycee. He moved to Sheridan in 1984. He married Selina Crabtree on Dec. 27, 1985, in Sheridan. He worked as a drywaller for several Sheridan companies. He enjoyed working on cars. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Brandy and Shera of Sheridan; a brother, Dean Johnsen of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters, Kim Tinken and Dana Jensen of Iowa, Marta Spracklen of Casper, and Lynn Brock of Kaycee; and two grandchildren.
Dennis L. Duncan, 67, of Sheridan, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Memorial services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Jones officiating. Born Dec. 25, 1940, in Buffalo to Lee and Viola (Gray) Duncan, he grew up and graduated from high school in Buffalo and attended Casper College. He married Susan McFadden on Sept. 17, 1980, in Buffalo. Mr. Duncan worked construction as a heavy-equipment operator for much of his life for companies in Casper, Buffalo, Gillette, Sheridan and Billings. He competed in many Wyoming and Montana rodeos in team roping and steer wrestling. Miller on April 4, 1964, in Sheridan. They lived on the ranch and owned and operated Miller Cattle Co. on Piney Creek. They retired in 1999 and moved to Murphy Gulch. She enjoyed gambling in Deadwood, S.D. A published poet, she enjoyed hunting for arrowheads and feeding birds. Clarence "Earl" Voogd, 74, of Sheridan, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Westview Health Care Center. Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home. Born April 30, 1934, in Sheridan to Homer and Jessie (Rose) Voogd, he was raised in the Sheridan and Banner area. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1953. He married Margaret &ldquoPeggy&rdquo Harrison on Aug. 12, 1956, at St. Peter&rsquos Episcopal Church. He completed vocational courses in welding and auto mechanics. He was employed at Skarr Motors, where he began a lifelong interest in Studebaker cars. At age 18, he went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1998 after 43 years. Mr. Voogd was a 50-year member of the United Transportation Union and a founding member of the Taylor School HO Rail Road Club. He also belonged to the Wyoming License Plate Society and Northern Wyoming Studebaker Club. He enjoyed Ford tractors, Studebakers and Chevy pickups, collecting anything related to trains, old tools, license plates, and gardening, and growing his own flowers. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Dan Voogd; and a brother, Stan Voogd. Survivors include sons Nicky of Sheridan and David of Denver; a daughter, Terri Voogd of Sheridan; a brother, Homer Voogd Jr. of Sheridan; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. Anna McAdams in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, she graduated from St.

He lived in Upton before moving to Sheridan in 2006. He was active in the youth program at Trinity Lutheran Church. Born Feb. 15, 1955, in Newcastle to Lyle and Myra (Eastabrooks)
Rodocker, he came to Sheridan in 1965. He graduated from high
school in Sheridan, where he was active in band and wrestling. He
served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1977.
After the service, he returned to Sheridan, where he worked in
logging for a time.
He moved to Seattle in 1986, where he worked various jobs
including construction and as a caregiver. Mr. Rodocker enjoyed
hunting, fishing, antiques and collecting coins and grease caps.
Survivors include his mother, Myra Snider of Sheridan; a son,
Anthony Rodocker of Gering, Neb.; a stepsister, Pat Chappell; one
granddaughter; and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Former Sheridan resident Arnetus May Amby Frickey, 91, of Loveland, Colo., died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland. Memorial services were Oct. 2 at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland. Born April 13, 1917, in Bartlesville, Okla., to Fred and Myrtle Baker, she grew up in Idaho and Montana. She married Gerald Frickey on June 23, 1940, in Sheridan, where they lived until moving to Casper in 1955, then Loveland in 1966. She was a charter and 50-year member of Friendship Chapter No. 51, Order of the Eastern Star in Sheridan and a 50-year member of Sahida Temple No. 86, Daughters of the Nile, also in Sheridan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Marty Meier, in 2001. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Jeri Anne Frickey of Aurora, Colo., and Lee Brown of Glenrock; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Wallace Robert Benson, 91, of Sheridan, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Sheridan. No services are planned. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Born Dec. 3, 1916, to Oscar and Jenny Benson in Eaton, Colo., he grew up on a farm west of Greeley, Colo. He graduated in 1935 from Greeley High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1941. Captured in Anzio, Italy, by the German army, he spent two years as a prisoner of war until released by the Russians in May 1945. Mr. Benson married Marion (no surname available) in Tacoma, Wash., on March 1, 1947. Mrs. Benson died in 2007. Taking advantage of the GI Bill, he graduated from Colorado A&M (Colorado State University) in 1952. From 1954 until 1980 he worked for the Wyoming Highway Department in Cheyenne. At the time of his retirement, he headed the photogrammetry department. The Bensons were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cheyenne. They moved to Sheridan in 2006. Mr. Benson enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth, and brothers Raymond and Clarence. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Lance of Sheridan; a son, Ross of Fort Worth, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Leola B. "Ole" Wilson, 92, of Medford, Ore., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, according to her family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is Monday in Medford. A graveside service in Sheridan is planned later. Mrs. Wilson was born Aug. 12, 1916, to George J. and Louise Borland. She married Eldon L. Wilson on May 4, 1937, in Sheridan, where they lived until 1949. They moved to Worland and opened Wilsons Drive-In, operating the business until 1962, when they returned to Sheridan. Mr. Wilson was employed at Champion Funeral Home. In 1969, the couple moved to Casper, where Mr. Wilson worked for the Wyoming Department of Revenue. They retired in 1979 and returned to Sheridan. Mr. Wilson died in 1998, and Mrs. Wilson moved to Medford. Survivors include a daughter, Gay Patterson, of Medford; a son, Gary of Worland; five grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1939-45, when he returned to Wyoming and began a 56-year career as a cowboy working on ranches in Wyoming and Montana, including Faddis Kennedy, Padlock Ranch, Hope Ranch, Wolf Ranch and the N Bar. He married Doreen Bomar in 1961. Mr. Link enjoyed roping and continued following the sport as well as rodeo and bull riding. He was preceded in death by his wife and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son, Russ of Sheridan; a brother, Adam Link of Colorado; three sisters, Emma Jensen, Esther Link and Martha Werebelow of Greybull; and two granddaughters.

Sheridan native Linda J. McKenzie, 64, of Buffalo, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Thursday and 8-9:30 a.m. Friday at Adams Funeral Home in Buffalo. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tom Saur officiating. Born Oct. 7, 1943, in Sheridan, to Steven and Dorothy (Hepp) Will, she attended Kearny and Shell Creek country schools before her family moved to Story. She grew up in Sheridan County and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1961. In high school, she participated in intramural sports and was a member of Girls Athletic League, Future Nurses of America and the Pep Club. After high school she attended Billings Business College for one year and took a job with Riley Motor Co. in Sheridan. She also clerked at Tuckers Inc. in the 1960s and was secretary to Dr. Riggs in the superintendent of schools office in Sheridan. She married Raynard McKenzie on Sept. 11, 1968, in Helena, Mont., and they resided in California for a short time before moving to Prescott, Ariz. The couple returned to Wyoming in 1969, working for various ranches in Sheridan and Johnson counties. They moved to Buffalo, where Mrs. McKenzie was a teachers aide for the Johnson County School District for 14 years beginning in 1978. She retired in 1993 and volunteered at Meadowlark School in Buffalo, where she assisted Mrs. Dahls and Mrs. Smiths reading classes. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a Cub Scout den mother, 4-H community leader, taught crafts for Johnson County Homemakers Hobby Days, and belonged to Beta Sigma Phi Chapter Preceptor Lambda, where she was secretary many times. She was also a longtime member of Wyoming Homemakers, serving on state committees and as secretary, vice president and president of the Johnson County Council many times. She enjoyed her grandchildren, collecting angels, brass candlesticks and salt and pepper shakers, camping, crocheting, painting Christmas figurines, and visiting with her friends on the computer, and working with children. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Will. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Scott of Powell and Bill of Buffalo; a brother, Steven Will of Sheridan; three grandchildren; an aunt; an uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Helen Doyle, 94, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, in Seattle of heart failure, according to family. Burial will be in Seattle. Arrangements are with Wiggins Funeral Home, Ballard County, Seattle. Born in 1914 in Garnette, Kan., to Henry and Elnora Knight, she married Larry Mutt Doyle in Sheridan. They lived on his Crow Reservation ranch in the 1930s. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Opal Malone and Wilma Dorlaque; and a daughter, Donna Simpson. Survivors include a brother, Dean Knight of Billings; a son, Larry Doyle of Hardin; and seven grandchildren.
Melvin J. Duerst, 86, of Sheridan, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. A celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at Cornerstone Church, 4351 Big Horn Ave. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Duerst was born April 20, 1922, on a dairy farm in Bellevelle, Wis., to Jacob and Mary Duerst. He was raised and worked on the farm. In World War II, he was in the 9th Armored Division, 19th Tank Battalion, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and participated in the capture of the Remagen Bridge. After the war, he worked for an International Harvester dealership in New Glarus, Wis. He moved his family to Golden, Colo., in 1959, where he worked for Coors Brewery Co. and the Colorado School of Mines. In 1971, he moved to Sheridan and worked various jobs including for the Wyoming Highway Department until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Duerst enjoyed friends and family, people of all ages, animals, hunting, fishing, woodworking and guns. He was known as a talented craftsman and storyteller with a great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry; two brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; six children, Brenda Wooley, Colleen Blakeman, Rob Stuessy, Cynthia Winders, Brad Duerst, and Melaine Davidson; a sister, Elsie Funseth of Bellevelle; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Former Sheridan County resident Larry Edward Wilkins, 68,
Hudson, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in Casper&rsquos Wyoming
Medical Center due to heart complications, according to his
family. Cremation has taken place. Services will be 1 p.m. Oct.
11 at Lander Valley Baptist Church in Lander. Born April 4, 1940,
in Billings to Lee and Rose (Schedlock) Wilkins, he spent his
childhood in the Sheridan area and on his grandfather&rsquos
small ranch outside Ranchester, where he developed a love of
horses. He graduated in 1958 from Sheridan High School. As a
young man, he worked at Eatons&rsquo Dude Ranch as a wrangler
and cowboy. He settled in the Lander-Hudson area, where he drove
a truck and did air conditioning and sheet metal work. He worked
at the Lander Ace Hardware store for several years until
semiretirement. He enjoyed training and riding horses throughout
his life, hunting and fishing, particularly in the Wind River
Mountains. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie
Wilkins, and a sister, Jonalee Herbst. Survivors include his
wife, Jean (Barnes) Wilkins; three children, Lee of Helena,
Mont., Mike of Silver Springs, Fla., and Tannis Walker of
Sheridan; three stepchildren, Robert Vaile of Etna Green, Ind.,
Pam Destefano of Lander, and Kathy Huskey of Aurora, Colo.; and
numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Clifford C. Wiberg Jr., 71, of Sheridan died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, in Coeur d&rsquoAlene, Idaho, according to his family. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Friday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. A reception will follow at Holy Name Parish Hall. Born Feb. 2, 1937, in Sheridan to Clifford and Catherine Cunningham Wiberg, he graduated from Holy Name School and Sheridan High School. In 1955 he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1958. He spent a number of the following years in veterans hospitals. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alicia Russell. They moved to Buffalo in 1958, when Mr. Angeloff transferred to work at the Safeway store. Mrs. Angeloff worked as a teller for First National Bank, and the couple also owned and operated Gambles Hardware Store for several years. She retired in 1993 and continued to live in Buffalo until a short time before her death. She enjoyed playing cards, friends and family, picking up her grandchildren after school, cooking, plants and flowers. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Susan Angeloff of Custer, S.D., and Gail Morris of Buffalo; one son, Nicholas Angeloff of Sheridan; a brother, Chuck Strong of Forsyth; a sister, Donna Jones of Forsyth; and four grandchildren. Evelyn Coop, 95, of Clearmont died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in her home. Born Sept. 29, 1912, in Garnett, Kan., to Harrison Knight and Mabel Bennet, she moved in 1929 with her family to Sheridan, where her uncle and other family members resided. She married Joe Coop on Jan. 24, 1931. Mrs. Coop was a Girl Scout leader for many years. The couple attended First Christian Church. While her husband served in World War II, she joined the first Red Cross Aide Corps training group in Sheridan County and volunteered 700 hours at the local hospital. The couple moved to Basin, where Mr. Coop owned a sporting goods store. She took up rock and fossil painting and was known as an accomplished painter of Wyoming scenes, particularly the Grand Tetons, Big Horn Mountains and wildlife. Mrs. Coop worked at the Greybull-Basin hospital as a nurse&rsquos aide and later as activities director at the State Sanitarium in Basin. After the death of her husband in 1977, she moved to Clearmont. She enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, crocheting, carpentry, purchasing and renovating houses, photography, writing poems, reading, working crosswords, and collecting various items, particularly hats. She took several art classes at Sheridan and Casper colleges, created jewelry out of metal zippers, sold an article to Ladies Home Journal, and won an award from the Wyoming Writer&rsquos contest for poetry. She was preceded in death by her husband and her seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include two children, Kenneth of Worland and Terrill Foster of Clearmont; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. Joseph Joe Cedric Raine, 53, of Gillette, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of a sudden cardiac event, according to Walker Funeral Home in Gillette. He was father of Cedric Raine of Sheridan. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Gillette with Pastor Hans Sacrison officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette.
Evelyn Coop, 95, of Clearmont, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in her home. Graveside committal services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Custer National Battlefield Cemetery with Pastor Marty Rostad officiating. Charles Charlie E. Catron, 67, of Sheridan, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service is 5 p.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home, followed at 6 p.m. by a celebration of life for friends and family at Sheridan Elks Club. Per his request, attire should be casual. Born July 3, 1941, to Sheldon and Margaret Catron, he was a lifelong resident of Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1959. After high school, he attended the University of Wyoming before following his father into the painting business. He became a full partner in C&B Paint Co. in 1969. After retirement in 2006, he helped his friend Mike Flynn prepare the new Science Museum at Sheridan College. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob. Survivors include his wife, Jan; a brother, Tom (Moose); two sons, Joey and Weegie; a stepdaughter, Kris; three stepsons Kevin, Bill and Scott; three nieces; a nephew; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may benefit the Dog and Cat Shelter or the Science Museum at Sheridan College.
Cody Sisco, 23, of Sheridan, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in Cheyenne from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Viewing is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home with services to follow there at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Jones officiating. Born Aug. 10, 1985, to Rowland Rollie and Linda Sisco, he graduated from Tongue River High School in 2004. He received a Presidential Scholarship Award to the University of Wyoming, where he was a senior majoring in business administration. He worked for B&G Roustabout during the summer. He enjoyed riding his fathers motorcycle, playing Frisbee golf, concerts, fishing, bowling and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents William and Norma Gerlock; and his stepfather, Kenneth Bridwell. Survivors include his mother, Linda Sisco-Bridwell of Sheridan; a sister, Brittney Sisco of Sheridan; grandparents Tom and Minnie Sisco of Casper; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carla J. Engdahl, 56, of Sheridan died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in Sheridan Manor after a long battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Forman officiating. A reception will follow at Big Horn Mountain Eagles, 1760 Commercial Lane in Sheridan. Interment of cremains will be in the Lewistown, Mont., cemetery at 2 p.m. Saturday. Born Dec. 2, 1951, in Lewistown to Clifford and Juanita Barkhoff, she attended school in Judith Gap, Mont. For 22 years she was the partner of David D. Smith. She loved the outdoors, butterflies, and growing plants. She also enjoyed puzzles, cribbage, and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Barkhoff; a son, Garry Barkhoff; and a sister, Susan Chan. She is survived by her parents of Lewistown; a daughter, Rosemary LaFond of Sheridan; a son, Travis Sayer of Sheridan; five siblings, Diane Waltenbaugh of Billings, Gail VanOmnen of Missoula, Mont., Marlynn Cady of Red Lodge, Mont., Beverly Barkhoff of Hardin, Mont., and Ted Barkhoff of Lewistown; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. George W. Harrison, 90, of Sheridan, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Cremation arrangements were with Kane Funeral Home. Memorial services are 1 p.m. Friday at Church of Christ, 1769 Big Horn Ave. Interment of cremains with military honors follows in Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Born Oct. 9, 1917, in Belfry, Mont., to Oscar T. and Edna A. Harrison, he graduated from Belfry High School as salutatorian. He attended Billings Business College and Eastern Montana College in Billings and the University of Colorado in Boulder. He was an elementary school teacher for two years before going to work for Burroughs Corp. in 1940. He married Fauneil Powell in Imperial, Neb., on Feb. 14, 1941. As a newlywed, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After World War II began, he attended officers training school and was commissioned a second lieutenant. In early 1943, he was sent to England, where he served in the Quartermaster Corps until the war ended. He was honorably discharged Feb. 19, 1945, with the rank of major. He returned to Burroughs Corp., where he worked 37 years, receiving the Burroughs Legion of Honor award for outstanding systems installation and customer service. After retiring from Burroughs, he was an associate broker with ABC Realty for six years. Mr. Harrison enjoyed all sports and watching his grandchildren participate in sports. He was a member of the Toastmasters Club and a life member of Elks Lodge 520. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Harrison; and a sister, Mildred Johnson. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim Harrison of Sheridan; two daughters Debi Smith of Sheridan and Yvonne Harrison of Centennial, Colo.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
