Former Sheridan-area resident Elizabeth W. Prusak, 99, died June 30, 2006, in Bend, Ore., of natural causes, according to her family. Cremation has taken place, and private family graveside services were in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Prusak was born March 28, 1907, in Monroe, Iowa, to John and Mary (Verosko) Demchock. She attended schools on Dutch Creek and Thermopolis. She married Andrew Prusak on May 30, 1925. They resided on the Ulm Divide in Sheridan County, where Mr. Prusak worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. They purchased a homestead and ranched in the area. Mrs. Prusak was a member of the Catholic Church and Wyoming Stock Growers Association. She was involved in bond promotions during World War II. She enjoyed ranch work and being around livestock. She was preceded in death by Mr. Prusak in 1983 and by seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons, Andrew J. of Bend and Robert J. of Sheridan; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Fern M. Willis, 88, of Sullivan, Ind., died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at her residence. She was mother of Gary Sherman Willis of Story. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Sullivan's First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday in Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan. Mrs. Willis was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Sullivan County, Ind., to Kentz Sylvester and Maude Mansfield Morrical. She was a member of the Sullivan First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deaconess and belonged to the Geneva Guild. She also belonged to Moultrie County Home Extension and had served as a leader for Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Campfire Girls. She married Sherman E. Willis on April 23, 1941, in Vincennes, Ind. He died Aug. 26, 1992. In addition, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. In addition to her son, survivors include two daughters, Jan Stuart of Troy, Ill., and Leesa Willis of Gaithersburg, Md.; three sisters, Ruby Hand of Eldred, Pa., Reva Haines of Brownsburg, Ind., and Rae Dabelow of Galveston, Ind.; one brother, Kentz Morrical of Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Madonna Wilson Buell Beeson, 75, of Big Horn died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at her residence. Private family burial services were Tuesday in Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn under direction of Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Beeson was born June 27, 1931, in Sheridan to Lawrence and Loretta (Baker) Wilson. She began her education as a Licensed Professional Nurse at 16 in her grandmother's maternity home and worked as an LPN in Ohio. She later worked at the Wyoming Girls School. She married Walt Buell in January 1949 in Sheridan. He died 16 years later. She married Dwight Beeson on July 4, 1973. He died 19 years later. She was also preceded in death by a stepsister, Ruth Irwin. She was special friend of Donald W. King. Survivors include three sons, Rick Buell of Gillette, Roy Beeson of Grand Junction, Colo., and Dale Beeson of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Cathy Zigmund of Lexington, Ky.; a brother, Riley Wilson of Harrison, Mont.; a half sister, Andrea Johnson of Zillah, Wash.; a stepsister, Wyoma Schurch of Roland, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ford died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 16, 1921, in Edison, Neb., to Lula Augusta (Wheeler) and the Rev. William Henry Harrison Lee. She was a graduate of Polk (Neb.) High School, attended college in MePherson, Kan., and received nurse's training in Sheridan. She married E. Gene Ford on April 1, 1943, in Alliance, Neb. He preceded her in death. She married Victor Slack on Feb. 16, 2005, in Sheridan. They lived on the Box Cross Ranch in Big Horn. She worked as a nurse in Gillette and at Sheridan VA Medical Center. She was a member for more than 50 years of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a lifetime member of Sheridan County Hospital Auxiliary, a charter member of the Does, and a member of Sheridan Elks Club 520. She also belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion auxiliaries, Snowmads, and the Wagon Box Good Sams Club. She enjoyed gardening, the mountains, dancing, fishing, snow-machining, travel, playing cards, and being with family and friends. She made clothes for herself and her family. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Ford, who was killed in Vietnam, and by two brothers and six sisters. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Rodney Ford of Pittsburgh and William Ford of Sheridan; a daughter, Rayma Ford Costigan of Denver; a sister, Joann Stepp of Tahlequah, Okla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Donald E. Becker, 80, of Sheridan will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Methodist Church in Worland with the Rev. Grover Briggs officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Becker died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, in Westview Health Care Center. He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to George and Mae (Robinson) Becker. He grew up and graduated from high school in Onida, S.D. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and rose to the rank of quartermaster 2. After the service, he graduated from South Dakota State University. He received a master's degree in agribusiness from the University of Wyoming. He married Betty Jane Davis on Oct. 28, 1950, in Rapid City. They lived in the Lander-Riverton area, where he worked for the Federal Land Bank. He was transferred to Worland in 1960 as a vice president for the Federal Land Bank. After retiring from the bank, he was an independent farm and ranch appraiser until 1994. He moved to Sheridan in 2000 to be near his daughters. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Worland, the Masonic Lodge in Worland and South Dakota, Kalif Shrine, Lions Club, and Worland Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed golf, skiing and ice cream. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include a son, Kevin of Cheyenne; two daughters, Kathy Winkelmann and Karen Becker, both of Sheridan; and two grandchildren. Sheridan native Theresa Jean Giles, 43, of Cheyenne died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, in Cheyenne. Private family services will be later in Sheridan. Arrangements are with Schrader Funeral Home of Cheyenne. Mrs. Giles was born Aug. 19, 1963, in Sheridan to Ken and Carol Elliott. She was a nurse with the Dialysis Center. She was preceded in death by her mother. Survivors include a daughter, Melanie of Cheyenne; her father of Sheridan; and two brothers, Mark Elliott of Gillette and Ken Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Graveside services for Hannah Louise Bruney, infant daughter of Jason and Janelle (Stanley) Bruney of Sheridan, will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Quiet Rest Cemetery in Story with the Rev. Claude Alley officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home of Sheridan. Hannah Louise was stillborn Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, survivors include three brothers, Colbey, Dayton and Logan, all of the family home; and grandparents Jayme Scott and Robert and Genevieve Stanley of Story.
Paul Donald Adkins, 64, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, in the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins. He was father of Joyce Ottema of Sheridan. A private family gathering is planned later. Survivors include four other daughters, Pam Adkins and Wendi Schmidt, both of Riverton, Paula Mushol of Sacramento, Calif., and Debbi Gazzi of Casper; a son, Keith DaVincenzi of Billings; his stepfather; a stepbrother; a stepsister; a half sister; two half brothers; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Helen Bird Pierce, 93, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with the Revs. David Duprey and Ray Clark officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Pierce died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, in Sheridan Manor. She was born Sept. 6, 1913, in Lincoln, Neb., to Chauncey A. and Minta A. (Gibson) Bird. The family moved to Sheridan in 1919, and she was a 1931 graduate of Sheridan High School. She married John Pierce in May 1935 in the Methodist Church in Sheridan. She owned and operated BirdHouse Music and Musical Instruments on Main Street and taught music for most of her life. The Pierces moved to Fairmont, Minn., in 1949, and Mrs. Pierce played in a concert for the DePaul Infantry Chorus in Minneapolis. She returned to Sheridan in 1970. She owned a rooming house on Loucks Street for a number of years and was choir director and organist for the Episcopal Church until she retired. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Fine Arts Club and former head of the community concert. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons and three brothers. Survivors include a brother, Hugh Bird of Sheridan; a sister, Virginia McClintock of Sheridan; a granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren. Former Sheridan resident Philip Paul Veneziano, 86, of Wilmette, Ill., died July 29, 2006, in the Presbyterian Home in Evanston, Ill., following a long battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Graveside services were today in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo with the Rev. Bob McHenry officiating. Arrangements were with Adams Funeral Home. Dr. Veneziano was born May 9, 1921, in Boston to Italian immigrant parents. He grew up in Boston and was a 1939 graduate of Boston English High School. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in Wyoming and received a scholarship to the University of Wyoming. He served as an eye surgery technician at the Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver during World War II. After the war, he returned to UW and received Bachelor of Science and master's degrees in experimental endocrinology. He married Velma Taylor on Aug. 3, 1946, in Sheridan. They moved to Austin, Texas, in 1952, and he worked as a chemist with the U.S. Geological Service. The family moved in 1954 to Evanston, Ill., where he worked as research assistant in experimental embryology at Northwestern University. He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern with a dissertation on the effect of low magnetic forces on the neural system of developing chick embryos. He joined the faculty of Wright College in Chicago in 1966 as a professor of biology and retired in 1991. He was a member of Sigma Xi. He and his wife enjoyed adventure and nature travels, going to more than 40 countries. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jan Ellen Tilsen of St. Paul, Minn., and Valerie Veneziano of Evanston, Ill.; two brothers, Vincent of Plymouth, Mass., and Armand of Boston; and one grandson.

Paul Joseph Iddings, 76, of Sheridan died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home in Buffalo with the Rev. Bob McHenry officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services. Mr. Iddings was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Omaha, Neb., to Donald and Vivian Iddings. He lived in Nebraska and South Dakota as a young man. He worked on ranches all over Wyoming, breaking horses and building fence with his father. He also competed in rodeo, winning bull-riding and bronc-riding championships. He was honorary grand marshal in the 2005 Sheridan County Rodeo parade. He was a saddle maker whose saddles may be found across Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana and as far east as Maryland and Florida. He enjoyed being with friends and family, trapping, and hunting coyotes with his dogs. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Tyra and Debra Iddings, both of Sheridan: two sons, Sam and Jess, both of Sheridan; two stepsons, Kenny White of Billings and L.D. Williams of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Debra Curley of Gillette; a sister, Myrna McManus of Basin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Fairbank died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. He was born March 15, 1981, in Sheridan to Teresa (Goodrich) and Jeff D. Fairbank. He grew up and attended schools in Sheridan. He married Heather Hudecek in September 2000. Mr. Fairbank was a mechanic at Fremont Motor. He enjoyed riding his dirt bike and spending time with his family and his dog, Rocky. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hal Goodrich. Kenneth Lee Kenny St. Clair, 81, of Worland died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at his home. He was father of Roger St. Clair of Sheridan. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Worland with the Rev. Joe Galligan officiating. Arrangements are with Bryant Funeral Home of Worland. Mr. St. Clair was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Worland to Frank E. and Rosa (Gates) St. Clair. A 1943 graduate of Worland High School, he worked at Snyder Dairies throughout his school years. He joined the Navy and served during World War II on the USS Lexington aircraft carrier as a radioman; he had the honor of deciphering the message for his ship that the Japanese had surrendered. He crossed the equator eight times and traveled the equivalent of eight times around the world during his service years. He returned home after the war and attended Colorado A&M for one year before transferring to the University of Wyoming. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture and livestock management and was a member of the Farmhouse Fraternity and Alpha Zata Honorary Fraternity. He married Georgia Forbes Gray on Sept. 2, 1948. He farmed for a number of years before buying the Worland Livestock Auction with his partner Bruce Edwards. After selling the livestock auction, he and his wife purchased a ranch in Lost Cabin. He was involved with the Lysite 4-H Club during his ranching years. After selling the ranch, the St. Clairs returned to Worland and started working toward a new museum for Worland. Construction of the museum is scheduled to begin on Big Horn Avenue there. Mr. St. Clair was preceded in death by a sister, Francine, and three brothers, Melvin, Darrell and Donnie. Survivors include his wife; three additional children, Kenneth L. St Clair II of Worland, Marygray Jensen of Nephi, Utah, and Milton D. Doc of Forest Lake, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Arthur Ernest Mitchell, 64, of Sheridan will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Mitchell died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place. He was born June 3, 1942, in Sheridan to Lita May Whitten and John Allen Mitchell. He grew up and attended school in Arvada and was a 1960 graduate of Arvada High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served four years. After being discharged, he worked for Songer's Conoco. He married Kristina Mae Skretteberg in 1970. They made their home in Sheridan. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed being with family and friends, playing darts, hunting, and country rides. He was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen May Mitchell. Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Allen of Roy, Wash., and Brian Craig of Gillette; a brother, Marcus A. of Sheridan; a sister, Clara A. Wootton of Worland; and five grandchildren. Graveside services for Anna Lucille Sundquist Kelly, 83, of Sheridan will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sheridan Masonic 43 Cemetery under direction of Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Kelly died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, in Westview Health Care Center after battling lung cancer. She was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Sheridan to John and Hazel Sundquist. She was a 1940 graduate of Sheridan High School. She married Gerald Kelly on May 24, 1947, in Sheridan. He died in 2005. She worked as a bookkeeper for Montana-Dakota Utilities, the Stevens Fryberger store and John Burtis. After she retired, she and her husband traveled, shopped and collected. They were members of the Good Sams Travel Club. She was an avid collector of jewelry, china, teapots, cookbooks, craft books and teddy bears. She was a member of the Creative Fiber Guild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Jr. Survivors include a son, Melvin; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Robert R. Roughton, 56, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel at the Sheridan VA Medical Center with the Rev. Peter James officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Roughton died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 17, 1950, in Kassel, Germany. He served in the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1983 when he was discharged due to a service-connected disability.
Sheridan native William F. "Bill" Bell, 73, of Galveston, Texas, died Aug. 31, 2006, at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston of cancer. A Vigil Service followed by a Rosary was 7 p.m. Sept. 1 in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home in Galveston. Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Galveston with the Rev. William Bartniski as Celebrant. Entombment was in the Mausoleum of Calvary Cemetery in Galveston. Mr. Bell was born March 4, 1933, in Sheridan to Fred and Eveline Bell. He was a 1951 graduate of Sheridan High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Bianca Chapa in Galveston in 1957. The family lived in Sheridan for a time after his marriage, and he worked for Turner and Bell Masonry. The family moved to Galveston in 1961, and Mr. Bell continued working as a mason and bricklayer until he retired. He enjoyed woodcarving, especially carving miniature and full-sized carousel horses. He enjoyed dancing and traveling. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Bell Warner; and four brothers, David, Charles, Maron and Leonard. Survivors include his wife, of Galveston; two sons, Mike and Pat, both of Texas; a sister, Virginia Knight of Bridger, Mont.; and six grandchildren. Former Dayton resident Larry Haynes, 71, of Gillette, died Sunday, Sept. 10, at the Sheridan VA Medical Center of cancer. Funeral services are 2 p.m. today Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Morgan, pastor of the High Plains Community Church, officiating. Mr. Haynes was born May 31, 1935, in Cheyenne to Charles and Nona (Probasco) Haynes. He grew up and was educated in Cheyenne. He entered the U.S. Army after graduating high school, and served in California. He married Virginia Laca on Nov. 26, 1956, in Redmond, Calif. They moved to Cheyenne. In 1968, Mr. Haynes opened a wild game processing plant and taxidermy shop in Gillette. He moved the business to Dayton in 1984 and continued operating it until 1991. From 1977-90, he worked in Canadian hunting camps. He drove a school bus in Dayton until 1996, when he retired. After retiring, he traveled to North and South Carolina during the winters. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and camping in the Black Hills, Big Horn Mountains and Canada. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and competed in rifle-shooting. He was a Distinguished Expert with a pistol. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Brion of Manning, S.C., Bret of Pahrump, Nev., and Blake of Gillette; a daughter, Kim Evans of Gillette; two sisters, Jeanne Michelena of Buffalo and Sharon Kay Palmer of Casper; 12 grandchildren; and sevengreat-grandchildren. Sheridan native Doris Marjorie Turk, 92, of Powell died Saturday, Sept. 9, in the Powell Hospital. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sept. 19 in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. Arrangements were with Thompson Funeral Home of Powell. Mrs. Turk was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Sheridan to James and Annie (Harte) Dawson. She was a 1931 graduate of Johnson County High School in Buffalo. She married Berlyn Bo Turk on Aug. 31, 1932, in Helena, Mont. She was a bookkeeper for Montana Dakota Utilities and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary and the Methodist church. She enjoyed gardening and was a volunteer after she retired from MDU. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1990; a daughter, Lois Loraine Turk; and a brother, Richard Dawson. Survivors include two sons, Thad H. of Albuquerque, N.M., and James E. of Powell; a sister, Mary Dudley of Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Wilmer Leo Emil Joe Sellenrick, 94, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Mesa Manor Care Center in Grand Junction after a long illness. He was father of Gary Sellenrick of Sheridan. A memorial service was 10 a.m. Sept. 6 at Lutheran Church and School of Messiah in Grand Junction with the Rev. Gary Buss officiating. Burial was in Grand Junction Memorial Gardens. Mr. Sellenrick was born Feb. 15, 1912, on a farm near Jansen, Neb., to George and Sophie (Hoppe) Sellenrick. He attended Cub Creek Country School and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1929. He farmed with his brother, Clarence, in the Fairbury, Neb., area for several years before moving west to work on the Union Pacific Railroad in the 1930s. He traveled with section gangs for several years before settling in Rawlins. He then worked as a brakeman and conductor on freight trains, traveling between Rawlins and Green River. After Dec. 7, 1941, he enlisted in the Navy for the duration of World War II. He served as a gunner's mate on the USS Arctic, a supply ship in the Pacific fleet. He married Norma Slaven on Jan. 9, 1946, in Omaha, Neb. They moved to Rawlins where Mr. Sellenrick resumed work with the railroad. He served on the city council and water board at various times. The Sellenricks moved to Berthoud, Colo., in 1976 after he retired. They enjoyed gardening and church work. The couple moved to Grand Junction in 1986 to be closer to their daughter. Mr. Sellenrick was preceded in death by four brothers, Art, Herbert, Raymond and Clarence; and two sisters, Alma and Evelyn. Survivors include his wife, of Grand Junction; another son, Howard of Cheyenne; a daughter, Kathy of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arvada native Archie E. Long Jr., 81, of Lodge Grass, Mont., died Aug 25, 2006. Cremation has taken place in the Bullis Eastern Montana Crematory. Private disposition of cremains is planned. Mr. Long was born April 3, 1925, in Arvada. Following his education, he worked on ranches throughout the area until purchasing his ranch on the Owl Creek-Sioux Pass road southeast of Lodge Grass in the late 1970s. He married Helen McKenzie on Sept, 19, 1945, in Hardin, Mont. She died in 2000. Survivors include a son, Floyd Long of Lodge Grass; and a daughter, Glenda Batkavich of Washington.
Euvon (Moore) Snider, 96, of Sheridan died Saturday, Sept. 9,2006, in Sheridan Manor. Inurnment of cremains will be in Upton at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Snider was born Dec, 16, 1909, in Marsland, Neb., to Frank and Effie (Richey) Moore. She grew up on a ranch near Buffalo, S.D., and moved to a ranch near Leiter when she was 16. She married J.W. Pete Snider on Oct. 20, 1926, in Hardin, Mont. The couple moved to the Snider ranch west of Clearmont. They later ranched on Newman Divide west of Sundance until 1951, when they sold the ranch to their son. They moved to Upton and, in 1977, to Mesa, Ariz. Mrs. Snider was a ranch cook, ranch hand and mother. She cooked at the Western Cafe and operated a trailer park in Upton. She was the main builder of the ranch home at Sundance. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge in Upton and a lifetime member of the Rebekah Lodge in Mesa. She enjoyed cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1995, and by six sisters and one brother. Survivors include a son, Richard of Sheridan; a daughter, Dorothy Chapman of Sheridan; a sister, Esther Bracht of Michigan; five grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Martha Anne Peterson, 40, of Sheridan died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at her residence. A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Peterson was born Nov. 6, 1965, in Denver to Colin Theodore and Diane (Carnine) Peterson. She grew up and attended schools in Denver and was a 1984 graduate of South High School there. She was active in music, cross-country running and was editor of the school yearbook. She attended Colorado State University. She worked in managerial positions in retail clothing for many years in Colorado and Georgia before moving to Sheridan in 2003. She was an operations assistant at Sheridan College. She enjoyed skiing, reading, playing tennis and the piano, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include her parents, of Sheridan; three sisters, Amy Giertz of Denver, Heidi Heuerman of Sheridan and Inga Beehler of Redmond, Wash. Mr. Sinclair died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. He was born May 14, 1930, in Lincoln, Neb., to Fern E. (Carson) and Howard B. Sinclair. He grew up and attended schools in Lincoln and was a 1950 graduate of the University of Nebraska. He worked in the newspaper business in sales and advertising for 30 years. He retired in 1992. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and photography and had been a member of the National Rifle Association since 1976. Survivors include a sister, Mary Helen Copple of Lincoln.

Mr. Burgess died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, in the Sheridan VA Medical Center. He was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Sheridan to William Bill and Virginia (Leis) Burgess. He was a 1973 graduate of Sheridan High School and attended Sheridan College. He joined the Navy in March 1974. He was honorably discharged in 1994. He married Roberta Galve on Feb. 11, 1978, in San Diego. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his father and siblings Robert and Penny. Former Sheridan resident Calvin Garhart Werre, 94, of Sundance died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 in the Crook County Memorial Nursing Home in Sundance. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel in Sundance with the Rev. Gordon Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Green Mountain Cemetery in Sundance. Mr. Werre was born Aug. 11, 1912, in Maple Creek, Sakatchewan, Canada, to Jacob and Amelia Werre. The family later moved to Highmore, S.D. Mr. Werre worked as a ranch hand. He moved to Wyoming in 1934. He married Pauline Selig on Oct. 16, 1937, in Monarch. They lived in Kirby, Mont., where he was a foreman for the Heigis Lumber Mill, and later ranched at Lodge Grass, Mont., before moving to Sheridan County. In 1955 they bought the Ray Wood Ranch in Crook County, where he worked until 1977 when he retired. He was a past county committeeman. He enjoyed raising and breaking his own horses, dancing, playing cards and attending family get-togethers. He was a member of the Eagles 2711 and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was preceded in death by a son Delmar; two sisters, Lillyan Price and Bernice Carlson; and a brother, Arthur. Survivors include his wife, of Sundance; two daughters, Marselle Saul of Lingle and Carole Kellem of Belle Fourche, S.D.; a sister, Evelyn Bawdon of Highmore; two grandsons; two great-grandaughters; and two step-great-grandaughters. Donations may be made to a memorial established for the Crook County Memorial Nursing Home.
Archie Thomas Eckenrode, 90, of Hazen, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at his residence. He was father of Linda Clemens of Sheridan. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Salem United Methodist Church in Hazen with the Rev. Steve Behrens officiating. Burial will be in the Hazen City Cemetery under direction of Seibel Funeral Home of Hazen. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Eckenrode was born Jan. 28, 1916, in Hensler, N.D., to Jacob and Lora (Gregory) Eckenrode. He grew up on the family farm in Fort Clark, N.D., and attended schools in Fort Clark and Jamestown, N.D. He married Louise Bieber on May 23, 1947, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Center, N.D. He worked for Mike Thiel Construction for 17 years. He joined West River Telephone in 1962 and was a lineman until an accident in 1965. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman, a Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed playing cards and games, including bingo, and an occasional trip to the casino. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Other survivors include his wife; three other daughters, Shirley Eckenrode of Bismarck, N.D., and Irene Beckman and Sheila Milbradt, both of Hazen; two sons, Jake of Phoenix and David of Bismarck; and nine grandchildren.

Sheridan native Amanda Jean Blanton, 24, of Wewoka, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, in an auto accident north of Seminole. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Stout Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka. Burial will be in the Blanton Family Cemetery at Wewoka. Mrs. Blanton was born Oct. 29, 1981, in Sheridan. She was a graduate of Sheridan High School and attended Seminole State College in Oklahoma. She married Darren Blanton on July 19 in Wewoka. Caryl Jane Cook, 69, of Buffalo died Sunday morning, Sept. 3, 2006, at her home. She was stepmother of Richard Cook of Clearmont. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Saur officiating. Graveside committal services will be in Willow Grove Cemetery following the funeral. Services will be followed by a dinner at the White Buffalo. Mrs. Cook was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Billings to George and Thelma Taylor. She grew up and was educated in Worland. She received her degree as a registered nurse from the University of Wyoming. She married Robert Link in 1954 in Worland. They were later divorced. She married Herschel Best in Powell in the early 1970s. Mr. Best died. She married Ed Cook on Dec. 3, 1977, in Buffalo. She was a bartender and cook for many years. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and past state president of the Eagles. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, two sons and one grandson. She was born Dec. 9, 1915, to Earl and Mae Ferren Mathew in Banner. She married Alex Pitsch on June 2, 1935. Mrs. Pitsch enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, card games, crossword puzzles and traveling. She was the first president, in 1969, of the Wyoming District of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She led devotion services at Sheridan Manor for more than 14 years and was a member of the Piney Women's Club. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Lawrence Mathew; a grandson; and a great-grandson. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Ogan of Reno, Nev., Nelda Simonson of Buffalo and Doris Schuman of Sheridan; four sons, Peter of Rock Springs, Leland of Fort Smith, Ark., Gerald of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Curtis of Buffalo; a brother, Frank Mathew of Billings; 25 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Donahue died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, in Sheridan Manor. She was born Aug. 28, 1907, in Monarch to Thomas H. and Flora Belle (Wathan) Currie. The family moved to Ranchester when she was 4, and she attended school there until she moved to Brock, Neb. She was a 1925 graduate of Brock High School. She attended Heiman Business College in Sheridan for one year. She married Hershall Donahue on Nov. 23, 1927, in Sheridan. They moved to Casper in 1936, returned to Sheridan in 1938, moved to Thermopolis in 1955 and returned to Sheridan in 1972. Mrs. Donahue worked for Dr. Russell in Sheridan for nine years before moving to Thermopolis. She worked for the Children's Center in Sheridan from 1972-76. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sheridan, a past worthy matron of Friendship Chapter 51, Order of the Eastern Star, and received her 70-year pin in 1997. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed reading, bingo and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1978, and three sisters. Survivors include three sons, Duane of Sheridan, Byron of Cody and Tom of Missoula, Mont.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dickson died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at her residence. She was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Harrison, Neb., to Lester and Irene (York) Dunn. She grew up and graduated from high school in Harrison. She graduated from Chadron State Teachers College. She taught country schools in Nebraska. She married Chester Dickson on April 4, 1959, in Harrison. They lived in California and Casper before moving to Sheridan in 1968. Mrs. Dickson taught at Holy Name Catholic School. She worked for Marion Day Care Center in the late 1970s, and later operated her own day care center, Kiddie Korral, until 1989. She was a member of Bethesda Worship Center and enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, reading the Bible and spending time with her family. BUFFALO Funeral services for Lawrence Raymond Tuff Gunderman, 82, of Buffalo will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Big Horn Baptist Church with the Rev. Edd Spurlock and the Rev. Bob McHenry officiating. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial for the family will be in Willow Grove Cemetery. Dorothy Grover, 87, of Sheridan died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are 1 p.m. today at the Ranchester Community Church with the Rev. Richard Christianson officiating. Burial will be in Michigan. Local arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Grover was born Sept. 15, 1918, in Gratiot County, Michigan, to William and Maude Cora (Winters) Pratt. She married Lawrence Grover Sr. on Nov. 18, 1933, in Ithaca, Mich. He preceded her in death. She attended Big Horn Community Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence Jr. and Mike. Survivors include three sons, Darrel of Carson City, Mich., Lance of Michigan and Marshall of Wyoming; two daughters, Sis Hinton of Santa Claus, Ind., and Mary Beth Shattuck of Sheridan; 26 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Longtime Sheridan resident Lillian Lutz Hawkey, 85, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at Sheridan Manor. Cremation has taken place, and at her request there will be no services. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Born Dec. 5, 1920, in Herman, Minn., to Clarence and Marie (Leis) Lutz, she moved with her family to Ranchester, where she grew up and attended school. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Lutz, and a great-grandson, Brandon Walker Allen. Survivors include two daughters, Terrel Francisco and Dianne Jones-McEldowney; a son, Sandy Seymour; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
